I've had some thought about doing an integration with Dropbox. I think
the Dropbox iPhone/iPod app supports to play music which you have
stored in your dropbox, so it would only need something on the SBS side
that made it easy to select which music to include.

A number of streaming applications use caching in various incarnations including persistent storage. Moreover, some let the user decide which files to cache...
