A couple of acquaintances purchased D90s last year and were not particularly impressed with the sound quality. Neither lasted very long before replacement. Op amps necessitating copious amounts of corrective feedback can exhibit very low THD but I learned as a teen that metric fails to correlate meaningful information about sound quality. I prefer using -inherently- linear circuits that require little to no *correction*. I'm perfectly satisfied with the current combination. The new RPi will serve as backup to the one in the garage. :) E-Stat's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58497 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113952 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Well, if it performs anything like 'Audio Research's other gear' (https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/audio-research-100-2-power-amplifier-review.10684/), I'd just replace it with an 'inexpensive Topping DAC' (https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/topping-e30-dac-review.12119/), which will blow it away. piTouch™ w/JustBoom DigiHat -> RME ADI-2 DAC FS -> JBL 305P MkII monitors; LMS 8.2 on piCorePlayer/Pi 4; Material Skin. chicks's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71798 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113952 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Some manufacturers actually use "DAC" as the name of their sound card. The "Output setting" *must* be one that is in the "Available output devices (click to use):" list. These are the only sounds cards recognised by pCP. If it is not in the list, reboot and check again. Start with a fresh pCP SD Card. Code: Yes. And got the following options as found in post #4. That would suggest that the DAC is being recognized to an extent. Actually, it shows the dac is not being recognised :( Please check your pm It's a bit of a rough and ready outline but you should be able to work it through, if you choose to do so. That would suggest that the DAC is being recognized to an extent. Others have suggested using a generic "hw:CARD=DAC,DEV=0" string, but when I do that Squeezelite fails to run. Choosing any of the displayed options allows Squeezelite to run, but does not *activate* the DAC. It should illuminate one of the sample rate LEDs. This was just an experiment to compare an RPi4 with the ultraRendu currently in use. How close in sound quality is it to the more expensive model? In the garage system system, I've used an RPi3 with an Allo DigiOne board satisfactorily for a number of years. [image: http://home.cablelynx.com/~rhw/audio/rpi1218.jpg] Perhaps I should just acknowledge the RPi4 is not compatible with the DAC8 - even though other Linux based streamers work fine with it. ARC uses an Aurender for their testing. No worries as it sure didn't cost much! So, assuming: that beta mode is elected in pCP (from the bottom of the Main page) the dac is powered on, the usb input selected and the rpi rebooted, then with no snd_usb_audio in your lsmod, it means that the dac is not recognised. By installing the raspberry pi Buster Desktop OS, if the dac is listed then : you can install squeezelite as a player ask *paul- *if he can help by showing him the two lsmod files :) ronnie Man in a van's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=43627 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113952 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
