Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Which guide to follow for MusicIP setup in Ubuntu Linux?

2009-05-04 Thread aubuti

I found this wiki guide to work great for setting up MusicIP on headless
Ubuntu 8.10, including analyzing the fingerprints as a separate process
and saving them as tags in the files:
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Integrating_MusicIP_with_SqueezeCenter.
I did have difficulties getting things to finally "click" in the end,
but then I installed Spicefly Sugarcube and voila, there it was. Now it
works with or without Sugarcube activated.

There is a free version of MIP. It doesn't have the "Power Tools" and
playlists are limited to 75 songs max, but otherwise it's the same as
the paid version (which is $20). Take a look at
http://www.musicip.com/mixer/index.jsp

I give up! Too cumbersome, too buggy!
Not that I paid money for it... ;)

Why?

I let my main (windows) computer do the analyzing, and then archive the
analysis to the tags.
Then headless installed MIP server on the linux SC server is quite fast
with adding the new tracks to the database.
