Re: [pmapper-users] Adding new layer in pmapper 4.1 via web interface using plugin or something else

2013-03-09 Thread Bogumil

Dear all,

I followed the discussion betweem Serge and Armin... Is there any way of
proceedings concerning the possibility of introducing search options into
TOC. I would like to develop this element, but I am newbe in javascript. I
would be grateful for help.

maybe have a look at the plugin layerselect. It requires the site
admin to configure all potentially available layers. This can be much
more than the defaults displayed in the TOC. Users can then select the
 ones they do not want.

A small problem might be the search options since this is not changed
dynamically I think, I have not used this plugin since some time so I'm
not sure... But I guess it would not be too much of additional work to
implement a synchronization of the available layers and the search
 options.

 Dear Armin,

Thank you for your answer. It's not an admin tool but let's say a simple
interface where user can add layers (shapefile and/or from PostGIS), so
if they need to add new layer, they do not have to deal with script and
code (map file and config xml) but through the interface.
I guess what you have mentioned might do the work. If you mean layers
dynamically added by the user then there is a basic
functionality included. It might be broken though since I have not
tested it a while ago. And a better and more generic interface I was
playing with several months ago, but nothing finished yet.

Any idea would be very helpful.

 Regards,

 Serge

I don't know if you mean something like an admin tool for managing
 your
applications and layers via a web GUI... I'm not aware of anything
 like
that. A generic tool for Mapserver was abandoned some years ago, it
 had
a plugin for some p.mapper config files.

I would like to ask if there is a plugin or a way to add a new layer
 from
the pmapper web interface (using shapefile data or PostGIS).
What I've always done is that:
   - I create my mapfile (everything inside is static) so every time I
 need to
add a new layer, I add it manually in my mapfile (adding LAYER
   name...type...connection...
 metadata...projection...class... END)
   - Then I modify my config xml manually (such as adding the
   groupnew_layer/group andsearchitem ../searchitem)

Is there a way to do all of that by using a plugin or something else
 via the
web interface so we do not need to modify manually the mapfile and the
config xml and the other files related to the modification.

   Best regards,
