Major performance and scalability advances in this version include: + Index-only scans, allowing users to avoid inefficient scans of base tables + Enhanced read-only workload scaling to 64 cores and over 300,000 queries per second + Improvements to data write speeds, including group commit + Reductions in CPU power consumption + Cascading replication, supporting geographically distributed standby databases PostgreSQL 9.2 will also offer many new features for application developers, including: + JSON data support, enabling hybrid document-relational databases + Range types, supporting new types of calendar, time-series and analytic applications + Multiple improvements to ALTER and other statements, easing runtime database updates Announcement: http://www.postgresql.org/about/news/1395/ Release notes: http://www.postgresql.org/docs/devel/static/release-9-2.html Wiki notes: http://wiki.postgresql.org/wiki/What's_new_in_PostgreSQL_9.2 As usual a dump/restore is required. Tested on @amd64. Feedbacks welcome. Re: Allow more usb joysticks in SDL
It doesn't set them as joysticks as such, but it accesses USB joysticks via a /dev/uhid* node. More than just joysticks use this kind of device node. That's all I know. Request for testers: libpcap 1.2.0
Since the libpcap in base is really old (last sync with upstream was done with libpcap 0.9.4 in 2006), new programs that need libpcap = 1.0 cannot be easily ported to OpenBSD. net/snort is especially affected because the latest Snort 2.9.x from upstream requires libpcap = 1.0, and upstream no longer supports or provides rules for older versions like Snort 2.8.6 that is currently in ports. I have written a diff that imports several critical functions from libpcap 1.2.0 to libpcap in base. It should be backwards-compatible with the older libpcap, but would benefit from wider testing to confirm. If you use pcap-based ports, could you please consider testing this diff? I have set up a simple set of pages at the following URLs that has the list of pcap-based ports, some suggested tests, and my own test results: General info and the libpcap diff itself http://lteo.net/libpcap/ List of pcap-based ports and my test results http://lteo.net/libpcap/ports.html If anyone would like to test their favorite pcap ports against this diff, I would really appreciate it! I find this very useful for splitting cuesheets to individual files. E.g., converting a single ape/cue to individual flacs: shntool split -f foo.cue -o flac foo.ape It might be better to add RUN_DEPENDS for audio/flac, audio/mac, etc, since the error message for uninstalled modules is rather unhelpful. ok? There is actually a helpful error message too, but it's on a file descriptor which ended up being redirected so we don't get to see it, maybe report this upstream? (See ktrace snippets below). I would rather not add a bunch of RUN_DEPENDS, especially as some of the possibilities aren't in the tree at all, and others are of quite limited use, rather I would specifically mention in DESCR the names of the packages you can install to support additional formats.
