unbound fails to start on boot
I'm moving to unbound in preparation for 5.6. Trying to start unbound on boot with pkg_scripts would always fail; however, starting it manually would succeed. This seems to be because /etc/rc does not have /usr/local/sbin in it's PATH and /etc/rc.d/unbound calls unbound-control-setup. The below patch should fix this problem. Re: unbound fails to start on boot
I've not had any problems with this when I was using unbound from ports; I believe this is using the default path from login.conf... does your copy include /usr/local/sbin ? My login.conf does have have /usr/local/sbin; however, the effective PATH seems to be the one set near line 220 in /etc/rc which does not include /usr/local/{s,}bin. If I do a clean install of 5.5-release and then pkg_add unbound, /usr/local/sbin/unbound-anchor, and add pkg_scripts=unbound to rc.conf.local I can reproduce the issue. -Matthew Martin

For now, only test-built and packaged on amd64; I'll do some testing with some of my old .ly fikes next weekend. Testbuilds (and real functional tests) on other platforms (at least i386) are welcome, of course. [...] I've tested it now on both i386 and amd64 platforms I ran a 50+ page score and a 30+ page Violin Etude book (among other things) on both platforms running current as of the 22nd of May. Thanks for testing and for your initial diff. I'll run some light tests on my own scores and then put it in. Of note is that the amd64 platform uses double the memory footprint to compile the document and hits the default ulimit on larger works. IIRC (it's a long time since I had a *close* look at the lilypond soures), there are tons of complicated (C++) classes with lots of pointers to other complicated classes, and there are a lot of connections between those classes and SCM objects, also done by pointers. So it's not a big surprise that it consumes twice the memory on a 64 platform compared to a 32 bit platform. Ciao, Kili

Re: opendnssec and softhsm revisited
Hello, The ports are now at a state where i feel they are suitable for import. Some remaining questions: * Do people agree daemon is the correct syslog facility to use? The upstream manual recommends the use of the localX ones. (Noted on this page: https://wiki.opendnssec.org/display/DOCS/conf.xml). The system logs pretty verbosely. * When running make port-lib-depends-check on the mysql FLAVOR, the following is printed: Asking ports for dependency mysql-client-5.1.73v0(databases/mysql,-main) I only react because this is the only dependency that does that, I guess that is OK? * I still have not been able to figure out what sthen@ meant by @owner/@group need updating in the inital review. I have used uid/gid 505 up until now. * I have made sure the example simple-dnskey-mailer.sh script is available under /usr/local/share/opendnssec. The git repo keeps this file non-executable. Should I make it executable via PLIST our keep that as an exercise for the user if they want to use it? * I am not convinced the pexp used in the rc-script (ods-), is considered safe enough, but there are two different processes that are started: ods-enforcerd and ods-signerd. * During the time that has passed working on the port, at some point I noticed a change in the build output: the titles of man-pages would appear, and then at a later date they did not. At first I was worried I had introduced some bug in the Makefile, but now I am pretty sure http://marc.info/?l=openbsd-cvsm=139842797830466w=2 is the reason (because of updated snapshots). There are quite a few patches in the opendnssec port right now, the good news is that except for patch-conf_conf_xml_in (syslog facility, user/group used etc.) the other changes have been merged upstream. The ports have recieved testing on amd64 and sparc64. If they are found to be good enough for import I want to make sure Stuart, Jérémie and Jerry Lundström jerry () opendnssec.org are credited for the help so far. Is there a trick to using this daemon? akpop3d does not seem to manage locks correctly: Doesn't entirely surprise me, the port hasn't had much love recently (not even an rc script..) - I don't think it is very widely used so unlikely to have picked up many problem reports. From reading Solar's recent comments about it, it seems to expect to run as gid mail (with mail spool permissions set accordingly). Last substantive commit to the port (in 2005) was create/use _akpop3d group rather than the non-existent 'mail' one so it wouldn't be a huge surprise if this was broken since then. (And if anyone did get it to run, you might be interested in his other comments... http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2014/05/02/2) Personally I'm using Dovecot. Once configured it's pretty solid, though admittedly setup is more complex than the simple pop3-only daemons. I ended up using solid-pop3d which was trivial to install. I've been using nginx from ports to provide SSL access: Using nginx for this may make Reyk sad! (relayd can do SSL offload too).
