Blue Mountain (Chicago show??)

1999-04-14 Thread David Markovits

According to the Blue Mountain site and the Roadrunner site

they are playing in Nashville on 5/9.

That is nowhere near the Hideout here in Chicago.

All their other gigs around that time are in the south.

Can anybody help clear this one up?

I strongly have to agree with Bob.

After seeing last nights show, I am just hooked.

Chicago Dave- without electricity as God meant him to be.

They are *really* good on this tour. They played Schuba's tonight,
the
crowd generally respecting the fact that these people were playing
without amplification at all, and it was one of the best shows I've
seen in a long time. Christina Marrs must have one of the best voices
on this green Earth, and I was surprised that they started out with
"It's a Sin to Tell a Lie," but damned if she didn't hit all the
notes.
If I weren't seeing The World's Allegedly Best Living Songwriter Who
Was So Bad I Couldn't Wait to Walk Out on Him (hi Deb#s) tomorrow
night, I'd be there at the Hideout for that show. (If any Chicagoans
go, it's Christina Marrs' birthday, so get her drunk.) JP posted the
tour schedule not long ago, and maybe he'll do it again. Too good to
miss.

PS to Chicagoans: If you see this in time and you can sink low enough
to tune in, they're on Mancow in the Morning at 8 AM.

Bob

Hey there,

The real chicago Dave asks...
Off to Austin next weekend,
Can anyone tell me about these
bands? They are playing at the
Continental Club Thursday evening.

Resisting the urge to scold you for being about 2 weeks too late.

Go see The Barkers. Very cool, kinda weird goth-country-ish stuff. The
closest comparison I can make is a happier Pinetop Seven. They played
Twangfest last year and I really dug 'em - they also have a cut on the
CD
if you have it. And if Bill Gribble is still around on the list, he'll
tell you himself.

Later...

I knew the White Sox fired Bill Buckner as hitting coach,
but I thought he picked up another gig. I assumed the Red
Sox weren't in the running though.

May be old news but I just heard that Richard Buckner and MCA have
parted ways.
