Howdy,

This week's Fringe had no particular featured artist. Instead, I
reviewed the previously featured artists of 1999 to date and previewed
some upcoming information about this year's Spring Fund Drive (which
kicks off Saturday).

The Fringe debuted on WDVX in August, 1998, and tonight's show featured
the 1000th song played since the first air date.

To mark the occasion, I set aside a countdown during the show up to the
1000th song. Listeners were encouraged to write down the name of the
song and the artist, because remembering such trivia could prove to be
valuable during the fund drive.

For fun, I also played the 100th, 200th, 300th, etc., song played in
the show's history. Song #600 looked like it was going to be tricky
since it was originally performed live in the studio, but fortunately
P2s own Bystanders (Hey, Rob) had included it on a live EP they sent me
a few weeks back.

Artists making Fringe debuts this week, included: Dale Ann Bradley, Pat
O'Bryan, David Allan Coe, The MoJoDeans, Johnny Paycheck, Collin Raye,
and Neil Young.

At any rate, here's what Fringe 1K sounded like. Songs marked with an
asterisk (*) represent artists/albums that have been featured
artists/albums during 1999.

...and that's this week's trip to the Fringe. There may or may not be a
show next week, depending on how long the free concert lasts. At best,
the Fringe will only be about an hour long next week, if it airs at
all.

When the schedule returns to normal on 4/24, I'll have a pick of some
new discs to feature including The Flatirons, John Wesley Harding,
Martin's Folly, The Okra All-Stars, Red Meat, and the Pinetops. I'll
pick one to feature sooner or later.

Look for live music on the Fringe in May, including live performances
from Knoxville favorites Jacqui and the Tumblekings, as well as a solo
V-Roy.
