5300cs green light stays on
Could someone please tell me why the green light on the right corner of my powerbook 5300 cs stays on- not blinking but constantly glowing? It goes off when I shut down the powerbook, but later when I open the Targus case days later, the green light is glowing. The powerbook has the battery inside, so I presume that is what powers the green light. I think this problem has something to do with the pram battery, or the battery, or the power manager. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Re: Is it my 1400 or is it OS 8.x?
I have several external Apple and 3rd party CD-ROM drives, that work just fine with my desktops (4400, 6500, 7100) with the termination switch built into the external case. Some are older drives, (1400 era), some new. No matter what, I can't get those drives to work with my 1400 or 5300 unless I have the drive on AND a CD in the drive as I power up the machine (warm boot might work too, I forget). Regardless of how I terminate them. snip So before you give up, try that out, if you haven't already. Holler if it works. Last night I visited my storage unit and dug up one of those old caddy-loaded external Apple CD-ROM drives, hooked it up to the 1400 and - sure enough - it was slow but it worked just fine. Meanwhile I left the 3rd party CD drive at the storage unit (!) so I can't test out your boot-with-a-CD-in-the-drive approach until I get back there some time this coming weekend. browser for 540?
Dear listers, I know this has been discussed and rehashed, but alas, I wasn't paying attention. I now find myself wanting to put my 540c on the dsl line/home network. It had Netscape 3.0 on it and that just doesn't cut it. I installed 4.08, and it's okay, but can anyone suggest another browser that may be a bit quicker and get through all the certificates okay? There is a 4.5 in Netscape's archives, as well as a 3.04 (68K only) and a 3.04 (PPC only). Basically, I downloaded Netscape's Mac archives onto a CD-ROM. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and...
