1400 & Orinoco wireless card

[Tom Seid]

Has anybody successfully used one of these with their 1400?
I was able to with my 2400 using Airport software.
Appreciate any feedback?

pram battery charging

Ed Vaeth explained how the pram battery on my 280 duo is charged by the
logic board over several hours. I picked up the rig at a swap meet and it
hadn't been used for years, which might explain why the pram battery was
discharged.

I think this clears the mystery and I thank Ed and the others for your input.

I'll put the rig back together, run it in the dock for a day and see what
happens.

For the record and archives, I'll report back to this list with the results.

Netscape mail's site acts similarly strange for me sometimes.
It seems to get lost during logout, and throws up an error message.
I'm using IE 5.1 on a G3 to access their site.
I think they want me to use Netscape to read my
Netscape mail.  The internet seems to be getting less and less
compatible as more browsers are "improved".

iCab and new Yahoo mail site = freeze up on 3400c

iCab 2.8.1 launches fine, but the new Yahoo mail site
works for a few page views then freezes the powerbook
- no cursor control, just the reboot option using the
keyboard. Navigator 4.6 can handle it.

Re: PRAM Recharging

The PRAM batteries in all PowerBooks are rechargable.  No special rig is 
needed.  They usually recharge under normal use of the PB when plugged in.  
If the PRAM battery completely drains, Apple recommends leaving the PB 
plugged in for 48 hours to fully recharge the PRAM battery.  If it will not 
take a charge, then it is bad and would need to be replaced.  (By the way, 
$50 is way out of line for a Duo PRAM battery) After charging it, you can 
test the battery by doing the following:

1. Set date and time
2. Shut down PB
3. Remove AC adapter and system battery or batteries
4. Leave for 10 minutes
5. Replace system battery and plug in AC adapter
6. Boot

If the unit lost date and time, then the PRAM battery probably needs to be 
replaced.

Even new PRAM batteries can drain, but they can be recharged.  They can drain 
if the PB is left unplugged for an extended period of time with a dead or 
missing system battery.  This will happen quickly if the unit is left 
unplugged in sleep mode and the system battery drains or is missing.

I have a 25 Mhz 2030, which I'm intending to sell very soon.  Too
many laptops!  I'm not aware of any lists for them, though.
