I don't have an extra AC adapter, but here are the specs and you may
find a substitute at a second hand store for cheap!

Hello

Someone threw a beautiful 180C in the trash from a high class
building and a friend of mine got it. However
he could not find the power adapter anywhere, and upon attempting
powering up it wouldn't work. the battery
seems to have drained. An old spare battery wont work either. The
power adapter cost $29 in eBay. may not
find a cheaper alternative. anyone willing to help? power adapter

It looks like, for whatever reason, hitting reply is making the digest
go to a [EMAIL PROTECTED] which appears to not exist.

Make sure you have [EMAIL PROTECTED] in your to field.

Donna,

They are getting through. I'm getting that same garbage. It looks
like someone once subscribed but has had the email address deleted
from his/her server. So when list messages go to that mail server,
the server bounces them back to the sender saying that they can't be
delivered.

listnannies, anyone wanna boot the offending email address off the
list?

Peace,
Drew

Cleaning powerbook keyboard

2002-10-15 Thread Andrew Kershaw

Anyone know how best to clean a 5300 keyboard?

Some of the keycaps don't always work

I took off some of the keycaps, but I'm not seeing how to disassemble
the keyboard itself to get to the contacts and clean them. It's easy
enough on a Duo keyboard with it's rubber top, but I this one has
those darn plastic rivets holding it together and cannot be
disassembled without breaking them.

Now, I've heard funky things about people putting extended keyboards
in the dish washer what can I do to clean this keyboard?

Peace,
Drew

What is the best way? Its the easiest way for you Thats the best!

I use a pastery brush to runn along the keys and the fine bristles get in
between the keys to clean them.

Then with a hair dryer set to cool blow the keys through from the side and
brush again until you can see along the gaps.

a couple of time does it ok.

I'm *not* on Digest and just got the same annoying message so it must be
happening to everyone (or is it?). A fix would be most welcome.

Powerbook 170 Modem-what software to use

2002-10-15 Thread Albert L. Lilly III

Hi all,

I got a PB 170 with an internal modem second hand from a sale
recently, and have been toying with it because it is fun, and it
works well. I have 7.6.1 installed for System software, with RAM
Doubler also installed.

My question: I have a modem with a black plug for the phone jack.
Is this an Apple modem or a Global Village modem? If Global Village,
I assume it will take the GV software to boot properly?

I've never been able to connect to the internet, but would love to
for the fun of it.

Re: Linksys WPCII ver.3 802.11B on a 3400?

2002-10-15 Thread Peter Kim

Linksys absolutely refuses to support Mac users, so no, it will not work
unless you find or write a driver that works. It will catch and send
signals on it's own, so if you can use someone else's basestation, you
won't need one.

Re: New at the Low End Mac Online Store

2002-10-15 Thread Chuck

Chuck

ps - thanks for the great web site. I get lots of useful info here.

Subject: New at the Low End Mac Online Store
 Date: Mon, 14 Oct 2002 19:14:36 -0400
 From: Dan Knight [EMAIL PROTECTED]
 Message-Id: 20021014231438.DRDS24595.sccrmhc02.attbi.com@[192.168.10.35]

I've just spent over 5 hours creating new artwork, a new online store,
and a whole bunch of new T-shirts and other items.

 NEW

A whole series of I Switched T-shirts with the phrase Mac User Since
1984 (and every year through 2002) plus the infamous Y2K. Another
replaces that with I Don't Do Windows. These T-shirts recognize that
most Mac users were switchers at one time. I think my switch officially
took place in 1990, maybe 1991

The final shirt in this series says, Switch? I already use a Mac! so
even those who never switched can buy a T-shirt. :-)

We also have a Switchers for Kids section with Too Young To Switch
 shirts and bibs and sweatshirts.

 OLDER

We've added a whole bunch of new items (even a license plate holder) with
the old I Love My Low End Mac sentiment, and the Because every Mac
becomes low end sooner or later products are also available. And we
can't forget the It's not obsolete 'til I say it is line.

Prices range from reasonable to somewhat steep, quality is reported as
excellent by those who have bought through Cafe Press in the past, and
about 10% of the sale price comes back to Low End Mac.

Pop on over to http://www.cafepress.com/lemstore to see the vast
selection of t-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, totes, etc.
