Re: how to get on the G3 List

2003-11-10 Thread Jerry
hello everyone!

I have been on the Power Book list for a while now, but I've been
having a big problem getting on the G3 list. . . gotta wallstreet G3
233 with a lot of questions. . . would rather direct them to guys
who have been dealing with the problems peculiar to wallstreets, no
offense!! So, can anyone tell me how to get around the sending an
email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED].,,I've done this a dozen
times with no reply
Melvin, first check your clock ... Melvin Watts	3:25 PM 7/19/07 -0600
, Eudora says you may be off a bit ...
they may not get your email for another 4 years ...

Then I think you would do better on the G-book list, for G3/G4 books

Re: Maxing Out 5300cs RAM

2003-11-10 Thread Josh Watson

Hi Jason

Well after soldering a new jack onto the motherboard, I reassembled the
machine and tried it out. I got a pop from the speaker and that was about
it. I figure it's parting out time.

Have you tried removing the battery, and mains for about 10
minutes, then plugging the mains in (the green light above the
screen may well glow at any point here) and holding down the
reset button on the back for about 20 secs. Then, if it hasn't
booted already, try the power button. I had one that did this
and the dead battery must have been draining the power from
something. Also, if this fails, try removing the PRAM battery
and repeating the above (poss a small chance removing this might
destroy the motherboard?? but then i'd guess its dead already if
it doesn't work). They can be hard to restart if they've been
stored for a while.

Well, my 5300cs has 16M on the motherboard,

yeah, i think its the later 5300cs and 5300cs's that have this.
My 5300cs has 16Mb onboard.

Jodh

540c questions

2003-11-10 Thread Winston S. Brown
Hello,
I have a 540c and wanted to ask-

1. What PB's share the same floppy drive with the 540c?
2. What PB's share the same batteries as the 540C?
Any other PB's that if I bought would yield parts for my 540c?

Thanks,
Winston

All PowerBook 500-series laptops use the same components for many
things. The only differences between the different configurations (520,
520c, 540, 540c) were the screen, the processor, and the standard hard
drive/RAM configuration. They use mostly the same internal components
so you can easily swap out components like the motherboard, processor,
screen, RAM, etc. All use the same floppy drive and batteries.

Powerbook 5300cs question

2003-11-10 Thread Todd Naber
Hi Listers,
I purchased a grayscale 5300 way back when they were first released for
$1350 and it was a total headache. Then I didn't know much about Powerbooks
and it was running 7.5.2 (that was the problem). After a few months of
visits to the Apple Dealer and a few times sending it to Apple, the dealer
agreed to buy it back from me. Well a few weeks ago I purchased a Powerbook
5300cs at a thriftstore for $30. Everything was intact except for a Power
supply (got one on eBay-Mint/Sealed in an original box). Got the Power
Supply and shazam- I find out the 5300cs has 40mb of ram, a 500mb hard drive
and the battery lasts almost 2 hours!
My question is it does have a Video Out port already in place (I have a
cable and have used it with an external monitor) but do all the 5300cs' have
this stock or was it ordered this way? If you have a 5300 you MUST go to
that nexcomp.com website that was posted a few days ago! Batteries for
$24.95 (unbelievable- I bought two). They list a Focus Enhancements 16-bit
Video Card for the 5300- is the one I have (if it was the one Apple
installed as an option) a 16 bit card as well? Any help would be
appreciated.
Peace, Todd
