using MacPoET on a Pwrbk3400

2004-12-26 Thread RasAzul
Hello fellow list members I am writing hoping to find someone who is
presently using MacPoET on a pwrbk. My Pwrbk 3400 is running with 144mb of ram
on OS
9.1 with a 2gig harddrive. The reason I am looking at MacPoet is because I am
trying run my Pwrbk through a Linksys router via PPPoE. I found a version 1.1
on the Internet and downloaded it then decided to check here before I attempted
to set it up. I am looking for any information on how it works, what version
is viable and how to configure and troubleshoot it. Thank you for any and all
help in this matter.

If you are connected through the router then it should be dealing
with PPPoE and your computer only needs to access the router using an
ordinary TCP/IP connection. In other words you do not need to run
MacPoet or any other PPPoE software on you r laptop or any other
computer behind the router.

Hi,

i agree with this. As long as your Router has PPPoE funktion
you should use them. If your router doesnt support PPPoE
you should think about buying one.

Anyway, if you, due to circumstances, want or need to use MacPoET 1.1.1
i can confirm that it ist working fine. The configuration is a little
unusual, because the AppleTalk is used somehow as sort of loopback
interface. A small guide (german only) is here

http://www.netic.de/support/dsl/macos/

But its little to read. The most is clear through the pictures.
