Not that I know of

Also, a PPC processor is not needed to run a wireless card; but a Rev. C.
PCMCIA adapter is. They work with 68k processors...

I run a 183mhz in my 500-series, and it is noticably faster. All but the
100mhz feel noticably faster.

Re: Wallstreet queries

Try a mult-time reset.. Click that keystroke 7 times rapidly, with the
machine UNPLUGGED. Then plug it in, and do it again. If the fan spins up
brieffly,
then shuts off, you're good to go. If it does antyhing different, you're in
trouble

I'm not familiar with Wallstreets. But don't you mean - control,
command, power ?

Nope. He means exactly what he wrote. That keystroke (on a
Wallstreet) will "reset" the PowerBook (or, more accurately, reset
the Power Manager just as the little button on teh back of a 5300 or
3400 would do.

If that keystroke doesn't restart the PowerBook, then you've got a
very strange problem. You should definitely ask the G-Books list.
When you push those buttons, the screen should go black, the sleep
LED should be lit, and the internal fan should start spinning (rather
loudly). If your Wallstreet is otherwise healthy, it should then
restart after you let go of those keys.

Peace,
Drew

Also, the Re-set of: Shift, Control, FN and Power does not work and
I have had to pull the plug out to shut it off after it froze. Are
there other suggestions for a way to shut it off?
Thanks.

Try zapping the PRAM. - Command, option, P, R
Also consult the manual to find out how to reset the NVRAM.
You might also need to rebuild the desktop- . command, option

Wallstreet queries

2004-12-29 Thread kaldav
Hello,
I have just acquired a Wallstreet (292 mhz, 64 mb ram, 5 GB hd with
OS 9.1) which has a yellow tinge along the bottom of the screen for
about half an inch. Is there a cure, besides a new screen?

Also, the Re-set of: Shift, Control, FN and Power does not work and I
have had to pull the plug out to shut it off after it froze. Are
there other suggestions for a way to shut it off?
Thanks.

Re: Busted 165c

2004-12-29 Thread Bruce
I just did a 520c in the same shape. I got a package of the stuff teachers
use to stick drawings on a wall. It's like putty you stretch it to make it
stick. Use this to build a dam where you want to put the screws and fill the
area with epoxy, when the epoxy is set strip off the putty.

Busted 165c

2004-12-29 Thread Bill Judson
Hi everyone. I recently received a PowerBool 165c from a swap-list member,
who said it was in quite a bad condition after a fall at his house. (Yes, I
knew that when I bought it 8-).) It turns out to be in pretty good
condition, except for a few things, which I've mostly rectified, but this
remains:

The display part bezel is intact, but the screws that hold it to the back of
the display part & the hinge, as well as the screws that hold the hinge to
the back, were torn out of their moorings -- the metal screw anchors are
intact & present, but much of the plastic moldings that the anchors are held
crumbled in the fall, & most of the pieces are missing. So the display hinge
can't be moved down (after I moved it up to examine it, & the bezel won't
stay on.

I was wondering if there is some kind of epoxy out there that I can use to
re-build the moorings that hold the screw anchors?

Alternately, could I drill holes all the way through the back plastic where
the anchors were & put longer screws in, with nuts on them to keep the
structure tight? It looks as if it would need some sort of reinforcement...
Thanks in advance,

--

Bill

Re: 5300CE power up problem

2004-12-29 Thread Beniamino Cenci Goga

Does you clock also lose it's time when you unplug the laptop and
the main battery is not inserted?

I have two 5300ce and one 190. If I leave them "unattended" for a
long time the first symptom is that they do not power up although the
date and time are retained...

This is the easiest way. If you don't have DHCP on the router

then chose:

Configure:Manually

IP Address: an ip within the range configured on the router

example: router has 192.168.1.1 , then use here

  192.168.1.2

Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Router address: ip of router. here it would be: 192.168.1.1

Name server addr: ip of router if router can do this. if not

an ip of a nameserver. See documentation
