How much did my PowerBook cost?
I was just wondering how much my PowerBook would've cost back in '94. It's a PowerBook 520c, and it came with 12MB of RAM, a 320MB hard drive, and the internal modem. Of course, I only paid $8.50! PowerBook Trackpad Climate Control
I have a PowerBook Duo 2300c and a 190cs, and both of them suffer from erratic pointer movement when I'm using the trackpad. They're both essentially unusable. I did some searching and found the Trackpad Climate Control extension, but this makes the mouse less response and seems like a cheap band-aid solution. Was a newer revision of the trackpads in these machines released? Would replacing it with a new repair service item solve the problem? As one who bought a PowerBook Duo 2300c upon introduction back in 1995, and still own it, I vaguely remember installing a Trackpad Fix extension update from Apple. This was reported in TidBITS Issue 312 (January 29, 1996) as follows: MailBITS/29-Jan-96 PowerBook 2300c Trackpad Fix -- Last week Apple released the PowerBook 2300c Update which is supposed to ensure the PowerBook's trackpad works correctly. Your PowerBook 2300c may already have this extension installed, but if you don't have a file called PowerBook 2300c Update in your Extensions folder, you can download it from Apple. These URLs may change; Apple appears to be reshuffling their PowerBook software.
