I've been offered a very good deal on a 166 chip and would like to take the seller up on it ^_^. -Eagan Sorry for the delay, I had to dig out my old paperwork on this, on the Processor board you need to identify R20 and R21, they are small surface mount resistors, on the 166 R20 should be 10k (103) and position R21 should be open, to convert to 133 you must remove R20 and fit a 1K (102) resistor to R21, and that is it!! it should now run as a 133 in any 1400 board. As a follow-up to my previous post, if you can only get a 166 card, I can give you the details to under-clock it to 133 so it works with the early I was just wondering what was involved in underclocking the 166 card? So, What this link is saying is that I CAN upgrade my 117mhz with a 133mhz CPU that includes the backside cache? If so, that's what I want! :D Can anyone confirm this? I'd really like to make my 117 a 133. pb 1400CS selling?
Hello Everyone, I have a pretty decent condition powerbook 1400cs that I'm considering putting up on ebay. Here are the details: The case is in nice condition, but doesn't have any covers Passive matrix display. There is a tiny (maybe 4 pixel by 20 pixel) rectangle in the bottom right hand corner of the screen that is always blank. I don't notice it after a while. Non Apple AC Adapter 750MB HDD 16 MB RAM w/ older 4 MB factory card OS 8.1 MS Word 6, Excel, Powerpoint... Claris Organizer 2.0 Newton Development Tools and Pricnce of Persia are on the Hard Disk. Nimh Batter holds about 15 minutes of charge after recondition. The AC has to be in the right position in order to function in the 1400 (about 1/2 way in, I don't know if the AC causes this, or the PB). It does work fine, but it takes some moving around until it's in the right position. Floppy I have no idea what to ask for this laptop. I paid about $60 + shipping for it a few months ago without the AC ... I'm open to offers if anyone is interested. Just a thought, If you mostly go into OS9 for iTunes, there is an iTunes install out there for 8.6:). I don't remember exactly where I got it (Something like, The Worm In The Apple), however 8.6 is the latest OS I have, and I love it!
