Re: Presentation Remote

2004-03-31 Thread Majid Charania
You could also try a USB to Serial or USB to ADB adapter for the remote.
I haven't personally done that, but I have the Keyspan USB Remote and
its great. The range is phenomenal... If it works with an adapter I
would strongly recommend it.

You might want to try using an sVideo cable from the ADB port all the
way to where you need to stand. Yea, it's a bit of a pain, but it might
work.

Re: Your first PowerBook

2002-12-09 Thread Majid Charania
My first book was a 5300cs, which incidentally was the first computer I ever
bought for myself, at the ripe old age of 14 :) After 3 long and arduous
years, I have migrated to a 2300c and now a 1400c/G3 333MHz that I'm ever so
happy with. But I must find myself a nice 5300 series to bring back that
nostalgia...

So in the same vein, what was your first PowerBook?

The first PowerBook I touched was a friend's 520c. We were able to get it
fixed up to help her connect to the Net while she was in Korea, but she
decided to get an HP laptop instead. Despite this, we're still friends. ;-)
Still, she's keeping it in case her HP breaks. (Where's my hammer?)

The first PowerBook I ever owned was my (now) brother-in-law's busted
 1400cs/117, which I turned into a 1400c+G3/333, 60MB RAM, OS 9.1 with
Ethernet, 56K modem and external video. He's not jealous because he upgraded
 to an iceBook.

Yah I'd be interested in the manual. If you could send it to me at

Subject: 1400 Developer Manual

If anyone is interested I have found the developer manual for the
1400c/cs on the Apple developer site, I can send this to anyone who is
interested (1Mb PDF file) it has lots of hardware info, ie pinouts of
all connectors internal and external and descriptions of the different
chip functions, also reading between the lines, it appears that there
may be a way to increase the Ram by using unsupported chips (the
addressing supports 8 banks of up to 16Mb/bank) if suitable chips
could be found to give 16Mb banks with 2 or 4 chips it may work.
Ben.
