Cliff,

I have V5.2.1b5

I did it where you did, SETTINGS/CHECKING MAIL, check the box to save password.

I have different passwords on different personalities and it
remembered them all.

I just told mine to save password. Yes, it did do it on the main
account but it saved them *all*, not just the main one.

Give it a shot.

Thanks all for your comments.

I did an over the network 8..0 install (no format yet) and it works
fine, even seems a bit snappier.

I think I have found a SCSI cable to hook it up to my old 1.2G
external drive, so I'll do a complete format and reinstall that way.

If I get stuck again I know where to find you. ;)

Unfortunately my only external CD rom drive is a USB drive.

Nor do I have the adapter to plug into the SCSI port on the back of
the laptop. Anyone have one of them? I think I am pretty much stuck.

I can install over the network but how do I format the disk and then
attach to the network? The bare bones boot disk I have doesn't even
have enough room for the Chooser.

PB 540C software

2003-01-03 Thread diane
Hi all,

I need to finally set up my old PB540C so I can crash on the couch with it.

First I need to completely reformat it. What is the best/quickest
system I can put on it and does anyone have old disks I can buy? IIRC
those versions are no longer at Apple.

I also think it's not at its max ram. Where can I get more RAM for it?

Does anyone know if GoLive files are backwards compatible? I have an
old demo CD I picked up from MacWorld 1996 that I used to use. I am
now using 5.0 which I know won't work on the PB. Worse case I can go
back to manual or Composer editing if I have to.

TIA for any advice!

You need an old version of Eudora. Don't remember if it does imap but
should be easy enough to find out.

Boot disk for PB 540C

2002-03-20 Thread diane

I rec'd a 540C a few weeks ago and did a very bad thing: I didn't
check it for viruses. In all my years of Macs, I've never had one.

This thing has had the MDEF-B virus since 1996 apparently. It was
kind enough to share it with my G4 and PM6500. I've got the G4
cleaned but the 6500 is really fighting me. :(

Anyway, can someone help me with a boot disk for the PB so that I can
clean it up?

TIA,
