520 connectivity problems

Hi Erich,
Do you have connectivity both ways???
I always thought one could only connect 'upwards', i.e. you can see the 
iMac on the 520, but not the other way.
Seems to be because of the difference in AppleTalk versions.

There is an update to the AppleShare client software that you need to 
install.  Check Apple for it.

Don't know about that, I'll look for it. In related news, a kindhearted 
list user has fixed my main problem by pointing out that OS X needs to 
be in classic mode to communicate properly with my old machine. Sure 
enough, that fixed it, and I now have connectivity.

If I was to upgrade to 10.4 when it comes out, would I still be able to 
use Classic mode?

520 connectivity problems

Trying to connect my PB520c 7.6.1 to my G4iMac running 10.2.8. I have 
an ethernet corssover cable I'm trying to use and use Appletalk to get 
into the iMac's drive to install and swap some software. I have 
Appletalk turned on for both machines, and I turned on file sharing on 
the iMac.

The iMac name shows up in the chooser of the 'Book, and I can try to 
connect to it, but an error message comes up that says the connection 
has been unexpectedly broken immediately. The 'Book doesn't show up in 
the iMac's network folder at all as far as I see. How do I set this up? 
Haven't ever networked Macs before...
