As it's a major misstatement (sorry earlier guy) about the capabilities
and connectivity of both powerbooks and G3 'books, since both have
ethernet; in general, I as a reader (let alone a rabid Newton user :)

I said you can't do it stock. As in, without anything other than the
PowerBook.

BTW I don't think you can connect a Newton to either a Lombard or a Pismo
stock
Not that this is on topic for this list, but...
You _can_ connect a Newton to a stock Lombard or Pismo. You just
have to have an ethernet equipped Newton! NCU works just fine over
AppleTalk on Ethernet, so a Newton that can talk on an Ethernet
network will talk to your Lombard or Pismo without a problem.

But this discussion is really off-topic for the PowerBooks list and
should be brought to the G-Books list instead.

What are the rules for discussing Newtons on this list? I imagine
that if you aren't discussing hooking them up to your PowerBook, then
it's not on topic, eh? Or are they treated as "one off" since they
are kind of cousins of PowerBooks?

Peace,
Drew

Actually you can, you need a serial to USB adapter.
I appreciate your input clearing up the little tidbit on the keyboard
issue there.

Thanks so much

I use a Keyspan Twin Serial adaptor to go from USB to Apple Serial for
that kind of thing.

Works with an old Palm IIIc and my Garmin GPS receiver.
