Set the CE to 640x480 maybe ?



It seems impossible, even by holding the alt (option) key while 
selecting the monitor resolution.

Set the CE to 640x480 maybe ?  Have you looked back through the archives as
I think this has been discussed before.

Maybe the 190 is unable to drive TFT screens, who knows ?

Well a google found this

Which suggest it's a 640x480 TFT - so maybe that's the ones of the LCDs used
in the 5300C.

duplicated image: impossible to go further.

Same make and model as the one removed ?

The cable and screws will match I expect, but if you try driving a 640x480
display as 800x600 then you may well only get part of the image

I seem to remember some one discussing 5300 screens and boards a while back,
I'm pleased to say I've done nothing with them for years.

You will almost certainly have to match the LCD with the one that was there
originally.


That's the point. This replacement TFT that I have received matches 
perfectly the screws, the display cable, of the 5300ce I have, so I 
guess it is a true PB 5300ce TFT.

Sounds like what happens when you get a mismatch between LCD and logic
board.

AFAIK an inverter board powers the backlight, it has nothing to do with
actually driving the display.

You got the correct LCD on that machine ?

Sounds like what happens when you get a mismatch between LCD and logic

Inverter Board 5300 and 190

Is the same?

I pulled an inverter board from a 190 and put into a 5300ce: the 
screen shows 600x800 but the desktop is bigger so within the LCD (the 
LCD not the plastic frame...) I can only see a portion of the desktop.
