will There is a good service in Qld who repack your batery with new cells -
usually of higher capacity - look at
http://www.battrepack.com.au/
I have used them several times for PowerBook and PC batteries - cost is in
the $110 to $130 range

Hello All, I have my first portable Mac, a PB 5300c. The NiMh battery is
almost dead, I run it with the AC adapter via an inverter in my car. I'm in
Sydney Australia and am having trouble buying a new battery. Are they still
available? The PB is great when used with my old Quicktake 150 camera[same
vintage I think] Cheers William

Lion in 5300

IIRC, the PB3400 battery will power up the 5300 quite well. However, I am certain that
the 5300 will not *charge* the battery. The 5300 was the first to try to ship with a
Lion, and suffered the infamous flaming battery problem while with some developers.
Apple kludged the 5300 at the last minute to use NiMH batteries, disabling the Lion
charging ability in the process.
