Yep, it was a networking issue causing the slow boot up. Still can get the Stylewriter 
II to work. I'm afraid it's dead.

It sounds like it might be looking for a network - did
you have it linked to a network before?  I would try
switching off Appleshare in the extensions manager, or
trashing the"Appleshare Prep" file in preferences.

The printer should be recognized, then give you an
error message when you try to print.  Check to see if
another application is using the port - I would check
Appletalk first.  This could even be related to your
other problem, perhaps?
