Yippy Kyaaay!!!

ahem...I mean, thanks for posting that, Dan. ;-) This
solution is much more promising than anything I've
scraped together for backing up.

Why thank you!! David, that was all the motivation needed to wrangle up a
page! :-)

As noted on the above page it's not issue-free but so far it appears to
be a very workable solution for PB1400 die-hards.

Agreed. Almost enough to make me keep my 1400. Where are EBM HD's?

Now all you (and any of us) needs is a way to connect and drive 32bit bus
addressing for a USB interface through the PCMCIA ports (or anywhere...who
cares?). The ultimate 1400 mod.

Oh well, dream on...

That's extremely cool.

I haven't seen any EBM hard drives, and I've done a
fair bit of scrounging and browsing for 1400 gear,
mods, and hacks since I put my Epic together in the
Fall (64Mb RAM, Sonnet 466 G3, Fujitsu 20Gb HD, 24x
CD-ROM 8^) )- but I would sure appreciate one to have
more ease and flexibility in backing up data.

Be sure to post pictures, as the SCSI Zip thing is
good for schoolwork, but I would love a
sleep-swappable mirror of my whole drive and I'll be
following your lead as soon as funds permit.

After that, all I'll need is a solar book cover and
I'll be "sound as a pound, baby". ;-)

Best Regards,
David Thrower

PB1400 HD Expansion Bay Module

2004-01-16 Thread Dan K
I finally got around to stuffing a HD into an old PB1400 8x CD EBM and it
works fine (as expected.) This lil' project needed a rightangle adapter
which _just_ arrived from digikey. I'll put up pics and infos on my EBM
page when I can get around to it.

Anyone aware of _real_ HD EBMs for PBs 1400? I can't recall ever seeing
any, not that that means much though. Perhaps I have the only PB1400 HD
EBM in the world?
