Bruce and others:
Do I need to worry about this warning from the net about the Fujitsu
Mobile MHT2040AH (ca06377-b034) 40 GB Hard Drive I just got for a
pismo? I've sent it to my dad in canada and he's not sure it is
compatible.

Warning
According to the Road Warrior and Other World Computing, the drive
controller in G3 PowerBooks is incompatible with ATA-6 hard drives.
When replacing the internal hard drive, you should be sure to obtain an
ATA-5 complaint drive, which supports transfer speeds of up to 100
MB/sec.

Greetings list,
Can anyone tell me if a particular hard drive would work in the
Pismo? I want to get a new internal hard drive for a family member

Found a Fujitsu 40GB Mobile UDMA/100, 5400RPM Hard drive, but am
unsure if it fits the Ultra ATA 66 format for the pismo. I don't
really know what I'm dealing with here so any help would be great.

(the basic question is weather the ATA-100 interface interface would
work with the ATA-066 interface)
Yes, faster drives will work on slower interfaces. Slower drives will
work on faster interfaces, but will slow the bus down to their speed,
iirc. The only limitation is the physical height of the drive, (needs
to be =< 11 mm, iirc. perhaps 9mm)
