I will keep experimenting

Hi Dan

Never mentioned anything about a colour lcd
just said i have connected them up and no they do not work.

The exact parts i have are 4 duo mother boards .
2 screen from a 230 1 from a 210 1 from a 280 and a smashed 270 lcd.

because of the disbelief i will stick a hdd in a duo and get the system
processor spec from all 4 boards the i can say what board they are for
definate.

Vicki.

Duos 230 and 250 have identical mobos, 210 is nearly identical, slower
processor though. 250 and 280 LCDs are near-enough identical, but the
cables are different. So a 250 LCD works in 280 with 280 cable, 280 LCD
works in 210/230/250 with 250 cable. 210/230 LCD in a 270/280? 'Fraid
not, as no cable exists with a 210/230 LCD end + a 270/280 logic board
end.

Nope, _won't_ work (as Vicki D apparently can attest.) The video circuit
doesn't know about color LCDs. Read the original Duo devnote for more
details about the original Duo video controller.

_Plus_ AFAIK no cable exists to connect _any_ Duo color LCD to a
210/230/250 LB. Hmm, how the heck did you actually do that anyway

Quick one whilst you are on .

the pcmcia cage for the 1400 the 2 rows of connector pins that connect it to
the motherboard How do you tell pin 1.
I am trying to use it connected to a 2300 board via and adapter to give me
compact flash exchange. (its a bit tricky)

Thats certainly an interesting mod you are trying. I will keep my
fingers crossed. On finding pin #1, I looked at a card cage and a
motherboard and neither has any of the pins numbered. Kind of
unusual. DO the developer docs give any clue ?

Hi Mad dog.

I have tried that experiment and you will just get a gray screen everytime.
on the 230 also when changing it around 230-280 same thing.

The connector also needs to be tweeked as the pins have slightly different
spacing on the boards i have.

Quick one whilst you are on .

Are you sure about that ? I knew the 250/280s witch with the cable,
but I never heard of the 230/280 swap.

And if the 280/230 works, then the 280c should work, although there
isnt enough VRAM to drive the screen very well.

Re: 280 and 280c screen

2003-09-06 Thread Tom and Lisa P
can a 280c color screen plug into a 280 (not 280c) board? I would
rather not take the risk of opening my 280 (I know this sounds wierd
to some mac hardware guys). I noticed that on the 230 boards the
plug is different, but I was wondering if this was the same for the
280. While im on this subject, is a 280 b/w screen compatible in a
230? Thanks, all!

Andrew
a.k.a.- The MacFreak
Yes, the 280 and 280c motherboards are identical. In fact you can
use a 270c screen on the 280/280c and you can use a 280 (B&W) screen
on a 270 motherboard.

The 280 and 230 are not compatable.
