Ben writes, They are really nasty bugs, Yersinia pseudotuberculosis is another. Can we ask where does your name come from. Yeah, it is. Anyway, to answer your question, at the time I first got online and decided I needed a screen name, I was working as a microbiologist and I had a severely sick sense of humor. I'm out of the field now, but not only did I get used to Yersinia as the screen name, but I still have the very warped mind. BTW: I have used Eudora 3 on my PB100 system 7.0.1 8 MB ram for ages absolutely flawlessly, Glad to hear Eudora works for you. It never did for me. Of course, it's possible it could have been the ISP I was trying at the time too (not the one I use now)who knows. In any case, Claris Emailer works great on both my Powerbooks (plus my G3), and I won't be switching any time soon. ~Yersinia. The encryption used is SSL, Secure Socket Layers. If you can't use thqat protocol, no more sending mail while away from home. Thank you for the explanation -- this sounds like a wireless-connection issue, though (since you mention Starbucks). I can and have sent and received email when not home, but never from a Starbucks and I'm not equipped or set up for wireless at all. I do all my Internetting including email via a dialup connection. I've got my Powerbooks both configured (FreePPP) for numbers local to the out-of-town place I occasionally find myself (five STATES away from home: never mind the Starbucks which is only 20 mins away), so I can access my ISP from that location, using their local number. And the email works fine that way, both sending and receiving. Dunno how big my ISP is -- NuNet is nationwide but to my knowledge not one of the household name ISPs like Netzero, Earthlink or AOL (and I don't know if they actually require the SSL SMTP), but I have no problems with email when I make my occasional trips up north.
