To cut a long story short we just acquired a superb 5300c. Or it was until I
tried to upgrade the OS.
First tried installing OS 8 over OS 7.5 from an external CD Didnt like this
as had to turn off all extensions to get it started. Then plugged in the HD30
and connected it to the PowerMac to clean the drive for a reinstall as by
this time it didnt even like the ex CD. Then loaded a complete OS 8 onto the
PB drive thinking to open it and run from there. Zilch.
Reconnected to PowerMac and tried to wipe it all out again but the Powermac
refuses to initialise the drive. All I can get anyhow now is the message .
"This start-up disk will not work on this Macintosh. Use the latest
installer........."
well. Ive completely run out of options - it recognises nothing and always
gives this message whatever you try- even to the emergency disk, so its back
to begging from the experts time.
Anyone had similar problems with reluctant 5300's., and how do I get it back
on course again!
Gerald
