No, all you need is one of those little plug adaptors like you can buy in
airports. I do the same in reverse when I visit the US.

All Macs since at least the LC (1990) have had universal P/Ss, and I
think some earlier ones, like the IIci, cx and IIx. Naturally, that
includes all PBs + the Portable.

Your region-specific lead costs about $5.

You can buy jurisdiction-specific cordsets from Allied, Newark, Digi-Key, and
several other places.

It is best, however, to get the cordset when you arrive as there are local
variations.

The iBook runs on European current. We came back to AZ in May, 2002. I used
my PB5300 plugged in every day in England and Holland. All you need is the
correct adapter. A packet of adapters, about 4 of them and all usable in
Europe, is about $8.00 at AAA offices here. No need to change voltage. Just
plug the adapter in between your iBook power cord and the wall socket. If the
holes fit, and there is an adapter that will in that package, then you are in
business. Don't see if they are cheaper in Europe. In Britain they price
things as if a pound sterling is equivalent to a US dollar. It takes one and
one-half dollars to buy one pound sterling. My advice is don't wait and do be
prepared to spend more for everything in Europe. Even worse now that the
dollar has gone down.

Your iBook's AC adapter will happily take what just about any AC outlet in
the world feeds it.

All you really need is a power lead, just buy one when you get there. It'll
be cheaper than buying one in the US.

hi there from a fellow Ross ! -
UK to USA adaptor for your mains items ,as we're 240v
( unlike some of clintons people a few years ago it seems )
well the internet cafe's i've encountered are pc biased and the chances of
finding staff at them that know what ethernet hookup is will be remote -
getting them to let you fiddle around with wires ... you may be lucky
( and i'll buy a lottery ticket at the same time ! )
