Sorry to disillusion you Mirko, but Becky 2 on my 700 MHz PC is several orders of magnitude faster than PM on my 800 MHz iMac. That is not to say that PM is slow, but it certainly ain't fast. On the other hand, I have not noticed this slowdown of Internet access with any of the versions of PM I have used. However, I leave the program running all the time, checking mail every 30 minutes, and only check when it notifies me of new mail. Even so, I have not noticed regular slowdowns in web browsing, which is what I am normally doing if I am at the computer, especially in the mornings. multiple spaces in PM 4.1.3 OS 9
I bought myself a second-hand Blueberry iBook this weekend. Great machine, once I readjusted myself to OS 9 again! As this machine will be used away from any tools, I only want to use stable release software, so I stuck with 4.1.3 until 4.2 is released. Strange thing, though: I found that when I type a message in PM 4.1.3, I get loads of double spaces between words. Only in PowerMail, and seemingly independent of Keyboard-settings. Is that familiar to any of you? You all probably understood what I meant, but re-reading my own post, referring to it as a schedule doesn't really make sense. -ben -- Ben Kennedy, chief magician zygoat creative technical services 613-228-3392 | 1-866-466-4628 http://www.zygoat.ca
SMTP AUTH over SSL in a schedule?
Hi all, Under Schedulings and Locations, one can override the individual accounts' outbound SMTP servers and instead send everything through the master SMTP service for the schedule. This is how I run my mail day-to- day, and it's great (allowing me to change SMTP service with location whenever I roam with my laptop). Under the individual account config, it is also possible to specify SMTP over SSL on port 465. How do I do the same on a Scheduling-wide basis? In other words, I want to use a global SMTP-over-SSL (465) with a particular schedule. The non-parity between these two groups of settings (account and scheduling) is a bit confusing. -ben -- Ben Kennedy, chief magician zygoat creative technical services 613-228-3392 | 1-866-466-4628 http://www.zygoat.ca

-1 unread
All, In the normal course of operation this afternoon (4.2b6), I too am now experiencing the off-by-one error -- in my In Tray. I received and read some mail. After this, I noticed that the In Tray was still bolded, yet there were no unread messages to be found. A few minutes later I received a new piece of mail, totalling one piece of unread mail, and the In Tray became unbold. At this point I realised that when there are no unread messages, the status display indicates there are -1 unread messages. It seems the rule for bolding the In Tray is to do so when unread != 0, which is the case for -1. I can't discern what triggered this. Rebuilding the sort indices did not solve the problem. However, verifying the consistency of database records appears to have. -ben -- Ben Kennedy, chief magician zygoat creative technical services 613-228-3392 | 1-866-466-4628 http://www.zygoat.ca
