A warm Welsh welcome awaits all delegates attending the 2009 ETOP conference.
Running from 5th to the 7th July 2009, the conference will be hosted at the
unique Technium OpTIC in St.Asaph, an award winning venue based within the
picturesque North Wales countryside.
ETOP is a biennial conference, designed to bring together those in education
from around the world, to share information and best practice in teaching
optics and photonics at all levels.
It is the goal of this international conference to bring together leading
optics and photonics educators to discuss, demonstrate and share new
developments and approaches within the field of education. Through
presentations, panel discussions, workshops and exhibitions, the conference
will inform and explore teaching practices and methods. It will examine tools
and models for photonics and identify current and future issues and trends.
If there is any information that you require, but cannot find on our website,
please do contact our conference Co-ordinator, Sonja Hardy.

Sponsors This Vth International Krutyn Summer School - "ORGANIC ELECTRONICS:
FROM LAB TO HOME" - is organized by the FP7 Collaborative Project "OLED100.eu"
- "Organic LED lighting in European dimensions" (http://www.oled100.eu), in
association with the Polish Supramolecular Chemistry Network and the Institute
of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The School is thought
as a high-level and highly intensive scientific event focusing on cutting-edge
know-how on organic electronics with a major emphasis on OLEDs (ranging from
device stacks, light out-coupling, and organic materials for OLEDs to
industrial requirements involving experimental and theoretical considerations),
but also covering organic photovoltaics, .organic FETs, and OLED displays.
This Summer School aims at the state-of-the-art training in the form of
lectures and consulting sessions addressed to Ph.D. students and young
researchers willing to reinforce their knowledge and skills in the field of
molecular optoelectronics. Top experts in this area will deliver lectures and
consulting session. The school is intended both for people already active in
this R&D field as well as for those new to the field.
VENUE

The School will be held in a picturesque and romantic summer resort - the
village Krutyn - in Masurian Lake District, easily accessible from Warsaw. The
Conference Centre "MAZUR-SYRENKA" provides an excellent conference and
accommodation services. Except for the scientific part (lectures and consulting
sessions), there will be a parallel evening "soft skills" programme for
personal development. Also, a number of social events will be also proposed to
relax after heavily scheduled programme, including: bonfire, excursion, guided
or individual out-door activities (kayaking, trekking, horse-riding, bike,
etc.). The Local Organizing Committee cordially invites you to take part in
this Summer School.

9-15 July, 2009.
Photonic Science and Engineering in the Living and Artificial Worlds
Scientific Director: Jean-Pol Vigneron, University of Namur, Belgium
Host Institute: Donostia International Physics Center DIPC, and Summer Courses
of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU)
Organising Committee: Pedro Miguel Echenique, Donostia-San Sebastián; Amand
Lucas, Namur, Belgium; Giorgio Benedek, Milano, Italy; Javier Aizpurua, CFM,
Donostia-San Sebastián.
This meeting, simultaneously a workshop and a summer school, will include
tutorials and research seminars on the biological and physical aspects of
photonic structures. It will be organized in the splendid venue of the San
Sebastian historic Miramar Palace. Established researchers and students from
physics, chemistry, biology and engineering with a strong interest for
interdisciplinary collaboration, are welcome to apply for participation. The
workshop is intended for about 80 participants, including speakers. A
first-come, first-served policy will be followed for attendance.
The meeting will cover many aspects of biophotonics: quantitative study of
nanomorphology, optical properties, biological functions of colors, taxonomic
search for species of interest, reverse engineered modelling and computer
