By Mulla Sadra

Al-Shawahid Al-Rububiah is one of the seminal works of Mulla Sadra and
indeed one of the major philosophical accomplishments of the Shiite
scholars. In this short treatise the concept of Self and Death is
explored from a fresh point of view of that is more focused on the
spirituality of Islam (Irfan) than any other presentation offered by
others.

The treatise makes the reader feel the inevitability and urgency for
the process of death and why it has to be there and why it is
something that is good for the human being as a creature created for
eternality.

Had I removed the name Mulla Sadra from the write-up many would have
mistaken the style of writing and concepts that of the Sufism, indeed
Mulla Sadra had researched not only the Sufism but all other
alternative spiritualities and philosophies including the Greek
Philosophies e.g. Neo-Platonism. Amongst the Persians this is called
Irfani as opposed to Sufi, since they consider Sufism as a specialized
implementation of Irfan.
