Mobile App
Hi All, Need some advice on the way forward. I have been developing apps in Vfp6 & 9 for quite some time with a lot of help from you all. Last year I redid an application using Winforms and Azure Sql database. Now I want to develop a mobile app to view reports from the Azure Sql database Mobile App will have say a login screen then an option to select a report a date option will be there and say a submit button The report must display. No data entry in the phone as of now. Which way should I look? I am looking at Xamarin since I have Visual Studio. If anyone knows any better options please advice. Thanks a lot in advance. -- Regards, Ajoy Khaund Neamati Road Bhogdoi Mukh Jorhat 785001 Assam, India Tel: 91-376-2351288 Cell: 91-94350-92287 Mail: akha...@hotmail.com Mail: akha...@gmail.com http://teaanalyst.blogspot.com/ "Walking on water and developing software from a specification are easy if both are frozen." - Edward V. If you have a VS licence then Kamarin would be a good option. -- Alan Bourke alanpbourke (at) fastmail (dot) fm On Tue, 18 Jun 2019, at 1:25 PM, Ajoy Khaund wrote: > Hi All, > > Need some advice on the way forward. > I have been developing apps in Vfp6 & 9 for quite some time with a lot of > help from you all. > Last year I redid an application using Winforms and Azure Sql database. > > Now I want to develop a mobile app to view reports from the Azure Sql > database > > Mobile App will have say a login screen > then an option to select a report > a date option will be there and say a submit button > The report must display. > > No data entry in the phone as of now. > > Which way should I look? Re: Mobile App
Xamarin is included in VS now, including the Community Edition and there is no licencing cost for "individual developers, open source projects, academic research, education, and small professional teams." So if you fall under one of those headings, Xamarin is there to use. -- Alan Bourke alanpbourke (at) fastmail (dot) fm ___ Post Messages to: ProFox@leafe.com Subscription Maintenance: http://mail.leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://mail.leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: https://leafe.com/archives This message: https://leafe.com/archives/byMID/3679dd06-143e-4ffa-be81-a023087cf...@www.fastmail.com ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice. Re: Mobile App
SSRS reporting comes to mind but you will have to put up a VM that hosts the service, it is not a part of Azure I believe. SSRS is not as good as FP reporting when you first start using it because you don't know the tool yet. SSRS is superior to VFP reporting because it doesn't bind any printer into the report. You could also do the same thing with Power BI if you wanted. Re: Mobile App
Azure does have Virtual Machine. Let me have a look. Right now I don't have any idea about VM. Thanks a lot. Since the inventory program days you have always shown me the right path.
