Yes, because pressing a button to open Internet Explorer is so much
easier than double-clicking the icon.

Cheers from me too.  I'm going to give them a try.  My keyboard is one
of those with a 'feature' button that re-maps the F-keys to 'useful'
functions.  Grrr...  And it's on by default.  Hopefully I can remap
them back to F1 etc.

Microsoft has something called Keyboard Layout Creator. Maybe that will do
what you want.
