Islamic Cleric Rapes 15 Year Old Girl At Iree A self-acclaimed Islamic cleric, Ramoni Sobalade, has allegedly lured a 15-year-old girl (name withheld) into his room and defiled her. The incident occurred on July 15, at Tawakalitu Hall, Poly Junction, Iree in Boripe Local Government Council Area of the State of Osun. Investigation revealed that Sobalade invited the little girl into his house to collect a potion of knowledge he prepared for her. It was gathered that the little girl, who was interested in the brew, rushed down to the suspects house without informing her parents. According to sources, who spoke with OSUN DEFENDER under the condition of anonymity, the potion was consumed by both the herbalist and the girl before their fasts were due for break. After drinking the concoction, Sobalade allegedly gripped the little girl, threw her on the bed and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her. The raped victim, according to the sources, reported what transpired at Sobalades house to her parents, who stormed the accused persons house and descended on him. The development resulted into pandemonium, as neighbours and other members of the public got to know what the self-acclaimed cleric did to her little girl. Sobalade was arrested by the police at the Iree Police Post where he was detained before the case was transferred to Iragbiji Police divisional Headquarters. However, OSUN DEFENDER gathered that the accused person has been ordered to be remanded in prison custody by an Osogbo Magistrates Court, following his arraignment in the court on Tuesday. The suspect was arraigned on a count of rape before Magistrate Olusola Aluko, who ordered his remand. Police prosecution counsel, Sergeant Elisa Olusegun said rape offence is punishable under Section 358 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11 Laws of Osun 2003 and section 31(2) of Child Right Law of Osun 2007. Sobalade however entered a not-guilty plea to the rape charge ,when the charge sheet was read to him in the dock.
