Re: [PSAS] project mgmt

2011-02-25 Thread Alan Shea Anderson-Priddy
We use Confluence at PCC/TSS which is on par with most wikis and has
version control for files built in. It doesn't have a popular version
control such as CVS/SVN/GIT built in, but it works well and is easy to
use. If anyone wants to look at it go to spaces.pcc.edu and I can show
people around since I'm one of the admins or you can just look at the
public stuff (which isn't very exciting).

At PSU/OIT we use PBWorks (it's pretty terrible as far as being user
friendly). It's pretty bad, especially for something that is
outsourced.

On my own some friends of mine and I have Trac with Subversion setup
on my own website. Trac is my favorite by far. Redmine looks
comparable. It's nice to have integration with svn or git.

I've considered tidying up the PSAS wiki, but for now it's too close
to what I'm doing all day at work. If anyone wants any pointers I'd be
glad to help, but I'm not up for lone wolfing it... =P

btw, Sorry for spamming some of you. Looks like I sent this from the
wrong email and it bounced back.

 looks like the bees knees.

Does anyone have any input on this?

Re: [PSAS] GPS programs for phones

GPS and iPhone uses decimal degrees:

Use negative values for western/southern hemispheres.

Works fine for me.

For Android, the best program I have found is called GPS Essentials and can
be found in the market. (its a blue background icon with a black satellite

convert Lat. Long. DMS - UTM which could be useful.
For Blackberry, there is a program called Blackstar Navigation
(http://www.blackstarnavigation.com/) and is available in the BB app store.
If someone with an iPhone has a suggestion that would be great, or any other
 smart device with a GPS.
If you plan on bringing a handheld GPS, the Telemtrum outputs the
coordinates in a degrees with decimal minutes format (N dd° mm.mmm') if you
want to pre-configure the device to take the proper formatted way points.
I would like to try something new this launch for recovery.  As many people
as possible/want to, provide me with their cell phone numbers so I can send
everyone a text with all of the formats of the LZ so any device or program
can get you there.  This should also help keep the parade on the same
 fairgrounds so to speak.
 Thanks,
 ~Casey

[PSAS] Rides

2010-10-14 Thread Alan Shea Anderson-Priddy
Ian,
if you get well, Andrew told me I'd probably be taking you along with
me. So if anyone else wants a ride, I'm probably going early Sunday.
Write me an email. There's a chance I'll go Saturday, but it kinda
depends on how the homework goes.

I don't know how tall Ian is, but if you're small we might be able to
fit someone else in the back seat. But there just won't be space
behind the driver seat... unless you're a hobbit.

So who all is bringing cameras? I've got an HMC150.

Jeremy,
Yeah... looks like the Kirsten Wind Tunnel is all subsonic. Oh well.

Before everyone starts complaining about video formats and whether or not
they can see it -- two things:
 1. The videos are on YouTube, which is non-techy friendly. Link and share!

 http://www.youtube.com/psasrockets#p/u

 2. VLC player plays everything. I have yet to see any video from anyone in
the group that doesn't play just fine with it.

 sudo apt-get install vlc

If anyone has any other videos that they have been holding out on us let me
 know!
