[PSAS] Launch 13 update

2018-04-20 Thread Andrew Greenberg
Hi everyone! We're really go for this weekend! Hooray!

## Saturday plans

We're meeting in the rocket room at 8:00am tomorrow to pack the rocket
up and get ready for loading Kenny's truck RIGHT AT 9:00am. Our goal is
to be on the road EARLY, like 10:00am. That's an hour EARLIER than planned.

If you have stuff you want to put in Kenny's truck be at PSU NO LATER
than 9:15am.

## Update from today

It was a busy day of last minute organization and testing! Here's the
quick update:

- Dave received built up our N1975 motor!

- Kenny finished up installing a 5.8 GHz transmitter in the avionics
module. Now not only will we get TeleMetrum GPS coordinates and data,
we'll get a live image from flight!

- I fixed all of the cameras that were burnt to a crisp next week, so
the 9-camera "Argus" 360 degree video module is ready.

- Marie, Lucas, and crew tested the eNSR one more time after Calvin
buttoned it up for flight.

See you all tomorrow!

[PSAS] Launch 13 update: ZOMG what a weekend, and see you all Tuesday @ Rogue!

2018-04-23 Thread Andrew Greenberg
Hello PSAS!

Wow, it was quite a weekend. Congratulations to everyone for what we're
now euphemistically calling a "highly successful field training exercise" ;)

For those who don't know - for those few people who *weren't* watching
our live stream direct from the central Oregon desert - we had to scrub
this weekend's launch Sunday afternoon due to a failed launch lug on
LV3. It scrubbed the launch, but the airframe is fine and we're now in
the midst of a redesign of the lug.

So mark your calendars! We're trying again! Sunday May 20th at Oregon
Rocketry's "Spring Thunder", this time WITH a truck and a new launch
lug. Rumor has it we might even launch twice that weekend?!!!?? We'll see.

This was our first launch attempt in 3 years, and I was really braced
for a lot of confusion and running around and people standing around not
knowing what to do. And yet: despite not having a launch truck, despite
nearly freezing our fingers off, despite having mostly new people who
have never been to a launch - we nailed it.

So congratulations to all, it was an intense, fun, and great experience
ramping up our team for the upcoming flights of LV3!

-

Don't forget that TOMORROW EVENING (Tuesday 4/24) at 7:00pm we're having
an "IPA for IPA" event at Rogue Hall! Bring your friends, families, and
small dogs (OK sorry, no dogs) to Rogue Hall on the PSU campus. We'll
have all the things on display, and we'll toast to a "high successful
field training exercise" and make plans for next month.

See you then!
