Re: quantizing audio

2012-06-03 Thread The Oreo Monster
not sure if this will hep but here is something chuck posted to the list
sometime ago about doing something like what you asked about. Hope it helps.

Elastic audio is usable! :)
Long explanation Read the PT manual! ;)
Short story!
Import a drum loop in to PT.
Click on the Elastic Audio Plug-in selector button in the edit window.
Select ✓ Rhythmic from the list, because it's a Drum loop.
Next click on the Timebase selector and choose (ticks) allowing the audio to
dynamically change along with the tempo as if it were midi.
OK thats it! :)
Now the fun!!!
Go to Regions menu and select Conform to Tempo and bang the drum loop is now
playing back in time with your pt session tempo!
If you want to transpose say a melodic elastic audio loop just go to transpose
window and bang it up or down to taste!
Also quantization of the elastic audio is available if you want.
Just a note I accomplished this using a PT HD3 system running pt 9.3..

Chuck's USA proverb!
Never Listen to People that say it can't be done LOL
That's it for now have fun.
GUFFAWING :) :) :)

YMMV!

 Hi Ronald,
Actually one of my assistants made them last year because Avid has not made
that part of the plug window accessible. :)
I sent them to kevin like i said in the last email almost 2 years ago.
I don't have the full version because I personally prefer my K2500 and roland
fantom x6 to the instruments that shipped with my HD3 rig.
Jason got the full version and he had his assistant do the same as I did
about 6 to 8 months ago just so you have the chronological events correct now.
 GUFFAWING :) ;)

sure, but think this is for all PT versions the same free limited version.
There is no more presets to get for this one I believe.
Okay now I am totaly confused, but nothing new..:) First I thought Kevin made
the Free presets, now he says it was Jason for all of them, and now Chuck
writes he made the 63 presets…. well, I am thankful to the one who really
 made them, thanks.

Hi Ronald,
No we can't sleep until Avid's accessibility issues are cleared up! :)
In this day and age there is NO excuse for Avid's complacency in doing whats
needed to implement these simple fixes! :)
If any body needs further clarification by all means give me a call!! :)

Sounding midi notes when tabbing.

2012-06-03 Thread studiojay
Hi every one,
I need some help with the following problem. I have recorded some
midi data on an instrument track. I have the track selected in the
track list table. What I want to do is tab through the midi events on
the track, and have each note sound each time I press the tab key to
copy/delete notes etc. Both in the mix and edit windows, with the
instrument track selected in the track list table, there is no sound
when I press tab, but the counter moves. I know this because when I
press play after pressing tab a few times from the beginning of the
session, the session does not start from the beginning. I have tried
turning tab to transients on and off with no luck. I know this is
possible since Chuck actually showed me this in action on the phone,
but we couldn't figgure out why it's not happening on my system.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Jason

2012-06-03 Thread CHUCK REICHEL
Hi Jason,,
Here is a solution.
Go to edit window and find the Track View selector button
Make sure that notes is selected and not regions.
I just went there and verified this. :)
Again this will let you tab and edit the individual notes for that selected
midi track.
YMMV
