Remember there is also Pro Tools M Powered. It requires an M audio interface 
and only works with mAudio interfaces but is otherwise the same program and can 
be had for as little as $299 standalone and start at $329 bundled with  m-audio 
interface. Also same with Regular Pro Tools it's $699 but bundled with an avid 
interface  it  becomes a better deal, but only if you are in the market for a 
high quality interface as well.
Garage band is great for a  free programs and a bit more usable than audacity 
when it comes to certain things.Learn its *unusual* way of working with it with 
voice over and you are set. www.appletothecore.info has some garage band 
podcast, and www.icanworkthisthing.com has a nice text summary of what's 
covered in the podcast.

 keystrokes and doing things without audible feedback from voice over, but 
 recording audio and or editing anything really isn't that doable with voice 
 over yet. On the other hand, Garage band is plenty usable with voiceover and 
 with the main stage instrument pack available in the app store for $30 you 
 can pretty much add most if not all the logic sounds to garage band.

Hi folks.
Well i have a little question about Pro tools and what to do with that evil 
creature: I'm wondering if i can upgrade directly from 9.06 i think it is to 
10.latest without going through earlier versions and how to go about to make 
sure i can use my pluging? Also on a totally different note, does anyone know 
what all the buttons on the M-Audio project mix do? Some, like those on the 
channel strips i have figured out, but the rest, are we using them at all or do 
we use the application itself for setting eqs etc?

Don't forget that if you are associated with an educational instatution PT 
10 is about $299. Sometimes they will even count a church organisation to 
qualify for the discount. I am possibly going to see if my local Boys club 
qualifies because they have a small recording studio for the children, but 
do not have PT and I am trying to be able to help out with their projects. .

purchase a upgrade to PT 10, transfer the license to your iLok, then install 
and use PT 10. once installed you may want to trash the aax plug in folder as 
described in other threads here so you have only the RTAS versions again.

your speech a one track musical the other pull your music back with the Fater 
or with the controller and it'll serve the same purpose

In PT 9.03 they appear to be working. :)


There was one observation though;
In the System Usage window there is a section near the bottom of my  DSP Card 
#2 and # 3 ,  for instance, that just says  StaticText unless  you click on 
the buffer bar it then changes to allocated.
the problem is you can't see where to click with VO.
Its slightly to the left of the % area though.
I got this verified with sighted assistance.
