If you click on it, the resulting page has a linked simply labelled "Download"
and a clickable item that says, "Save to My Drop Box Folder." Once you click on
that item, the item transforms to a button to save it right to your Drop Box
folder. Either method should work.

Re: Transferring ProTools license to a different iLok account.

2015-12-04 Thread TheOreoMonster
PTExperts seem to be in the process of converting all the 11 rack presets to
work with the new 11 plug in and all the storm box plug in recently released by
avid. Apparently those plug ins are native versions of what runs on the DSP in
the 11 rack so software wise is identical. They also said they are matching
them by ear since using the native plug ins you don’t get the use of the True Z
input that you get when guitar is plugged into the 11 rack. That being said if
these are what they are .. probably a good idea to unload the rack sooner
rather than later

Bit of an unusual question. I’ve decided to sell my Eleven Rack, which
came bundled with a copy of ProTools 11. When I sell the rack I want to
transfer that ProTools license to the new owner's iLok account. That said,
I’ve been doing a bit of research and it seems that (for ProTools HD
systems at least), Avid are blocking transfers of licenses between
 accounts.

Can anyone tell me if this is the same for the standard version of
ProTools? Has anyone recently successfully transferred their ProTools
license from 1 iLok account to another? Failing that, who would be the
best point of contact to ask at Avid (as I’ve never purchased any of their
support plans etc and haven’t had any luck contacting them in the past)

Thanks for any and all input

This was all possible back when Pro Tools 10 was current. Now it's even a

Re: Question about Logic, and yes, this is on topic, I promise! Please read.

2015-12-04 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Steve,

Main Stage is an application available through the App Store. It's comprised of
sounds largely from the same library as Logic although apparently not exactly
the same. I think it sells for something like thirty or forty dollars US. The
Soundflower component doesn't require any real interaction. You just download
Soundflower and install it. Once installed, it appears in your Audio MIDI Setup
utility. As seen in the video, you create an aggregate device and check the
checkboxes to include your interface along with the 64-channel version of
Soundflower. From there, select the aggregate device in the Playback Engine
dialog under the Settings menu. In the MIDI window, enable the IAC bus and
that's pretty much it from the setup of the OS. From the Pro Tools side, you'll
need to route track inputs from Soundflower and route MIDI through the IAC bus.
I went through the process quite a while ago so I don't remember anything more
specific. The Main Stage end of it is even more hazy to me. The idea is that
you'd set up a multitimbral performance and route the individual instruments to
the respective Soundflower inputs. Don't ask me about MIDI input to those
tracks because I honestly don't recall how I did it. All I know is that it
worked.

Yes, the sounds are great but, frankly, it seemed a bit tedious at the time.
Again, now with track commit, it's probably not as tedious as it seems because
one can essentially freeze the performance when done with everything and, even
in the worst case, I believe it's possible to save the Main Stage performance
as a document for later recall.

Hope that helps,

Slau

off list.

Hi chriss, yes i got the sound flour information from the youtube video. and
i don’t think that would be hard to get. But how accessible is sound flower
and main stage for us. sounds like there are some good sounds in there.

Hey Slau, this sounds quite interesting. can i ask a silly question, What
exactly is main stage, from the youtube demo, it sounds like it may or may
not be part of logic. I’d be interested in having a crack at this trick
some time. but i guess i’d like to know how to get main stage, is it a
matter of purchasing logic, or is this a different application.

Thanks for sharing this.

Ah, one more thing. Here's a YouTube demo from Russ at Pro Tools Expert
showing how you can route Main stage Sounds (and, technically, Logic
sounds as well) into Pro Tools using the free Soundflower utility:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OV9Ydy9DNQ

This was all possible back when Pro Tools 10 was current. Now it's even
a bit easier. Anyway, just thought that might be of interest.

Here's the situation. I have a karaoke track whic I imported on to an

that doesn't really give me a lot of control. It's kind a just a

Hi Ashley.

Thank you for getting back with me so quickly. You cannot know how appreciated

OK, so I'm a little bit confused. What is the difference between the

I could sure use those plug in presets. I use faze mistress, Echo boy,
Chrystliser, Decapitator and a couple other ones that I can’t remember right
now, and if you have any of these presets and would want to share them that
would be great. I haven’t had anyone to save any for me. I have focused on the

I use two or more of these Sound Toys plug ins in almost all my mix and/or
mastering, Decapitator and Echo Boy first of all. I confirm: zero accessibility
problems for the parameters both via control surface and VO. Only the presets
folder is not accessible and this is a pity because they are actually very
useful, the the presets are in .toy and it's not possible to rename them.
Anyway i got both Decapitator and Echo Boy presets library in .tfx in case
anyone need them i will be glad to send them or trade them with i.e. Phase
Mistress, Crystalizer etc. presets.

  my

I'm sure a couple of people downloaded the free SoundToys H3000 plug-in when it
was available a while ago but I'm not sure how many users here have used the
rest of their plug-ins. Aside from the H3000, I don't recall any mention of
SoundToys among users on the list. I've liked the SoundToys stuff when working
at other studios but it was always in a situation where I was working with an
assistant so I never had a chance to truly examine the accessibility. Well, I
finally had a chance to sit down with the SoundToys 5 bundle and was pleasantly
surprised. Specifically, what I've found is that the plug-in parameter layout
in the plug-in view follows the layout on the control surface without
exception, as far as I can tell. In addition, there's no extra "zero parameter"
as we see in so many other plug-in views. That's a mystery to me but, hey, they
seem to be doing something right.

Had I known during their Black Friday sale period, I would have shared that on
the list earlier but I didn't get around to it until this morning. Their sale
is over for now but I'm sure there will be another one at some point. I'd say
it's worth it. It's native and not DSP but, for most people on the list, that
doesn't really matter and, even for HD users, these are the kinds of plug-ins
you'd normally instantiate after DSP so it's all good. I'm pretty sure
everything's available as a trial version as well so you can try the stuff for
yourselves. Anyway, good stuff.

Ah no worries; hope they haven’t come down that much over here! :)

The eleven rack is very convenient, but it does have its limitations, the most
prevalent of which being the lack of accessibility in the stand-alone editor.
If that were accessible, I’d probably have kept it.

Writing you off list about Logic

2015-12-04 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
Ashley,

I saw your messages on the PT Access list, but based on your question the other
day about the circular sliders, I thought I'd ask you this, since you made it
sound like you used Logic some. If i'm wrong, then forgive me.

Here's the situation. I have a karaoke track whic I imported on to an audio
track, then another audio track which I have recorded my vocal on. I then made
sure the vocal track was selected by interacting with my track headers. Once
done, I hit the letter y, to be sure my library was shown, and not hidden.
I've downloaded all like, 60 something odd gigs of Logic content, so one of the
things under here in the library categories is voice. I went there, then to
tuned vocal. OK, so here is the thing. I'm trying to figure out now how I go
about tweaking the actual settings within the patch I selected in the library.
I enabled smart controls, and I definitely! then see the smart controls layout,
and if I interact with that, I get things like dynamics, tuning, and I think
sends was the 3rd one. So, say I go into dynamics and interact with it. I see
a circular dial that is for compression, it's set... hoal, I don't remember,
somewhere around 17ish percent? Now, I can definitely turn that up or down,
although it's fairly suttle. but, that doesn't really give me a lot of
control. It's kind a just a blending dial if you will. So, for example, how
do I get to that actual compressor that the tuned voice patch is using? I want
to tweak it more fine tuned. I want to literally be able to individually get
into adjusting the threshold, the ratio, the release and attack, etc. Is there
not really a good accessible way a doing this? That would be a heck of a deal
breaker for me, if so.

Chris.

Re: Transferring ProTools license to a different iLok account.

2015-12-04 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Ashley,

Ah, right, you're in the UK. Those are going for between three and four hundred
dollars here so the exchange and shipping wouldn't work terribly well under the
circumstances. I wasn't specifically looking for one but, if one comes my way,
perhaps I'll snatch it up. Nothing like gear you don't need but want. While I
could mic up the Marshall as well, I might be more inclined to track through a
rack unit much of the time if it were right in front of me.

Cheers,
Slau

2015-12-04 Thread 'ashley cox' via Pro Tools Accessibility
Excellent, thanks Slau. I’ll drop my local reseller an eMail.

I’m looking for about 400GPB as the rack itself is mint, boxed and practically
and unused. I bought it because I wanted PT11; and over here in the UK, buying
PT stand-alone and PT with an eleven rack used to be about the same price.
While I’ve used PT a lot, the eleven rack has probably been used twice maximum.
It never actually found its way into my rack. It sounds incredible, but I’ve
always opted to mic up my Marshall instead.

If you or anyone on here is interested, drop me a message. I’m in the UK but
I’d be willing to investigate shipping worldwide (I have a reputable and
reliable courier service who I use on a regular basis who offer great
international rates). I’d quite like to avoid eBay as I’d have to try to sell
at a higher price to negate the loss of fees; and if I can sell to someone who
already has ProTools, all the better as I then don’t have to deal with the
hassle of transferring the license. That being the case I may also be a bit
more negotiable on the price. :)

Cheers,
Ashley

Hi Ashley,

I haven't heard of Avid blocking transfers but that might be a new thing and
perhaps only with HD licenses and I'm not sure why that would be the case. At
any rate, I believe any Avid reseller like Sweetwater should be able to answer
a question like that.
BTW, do you already have a buyer? If not, what are you looking to get for the
unit?

Transferring ProTools license to a different iLok account.

2015-12-04 Thread 'ashley cox' via Pro Tools Accessibility
Hi all,

Bit of an unusual question. I’ve decided to sell my Eleven Rack, which came
bundled with a copy of ProTools 11. When I sell the rack I want to transfer
that ProTools license to the new owner's iLok account. That said, I’ve been
doing a bit of research and it seems that (for ProTools HD systems at least),
Avid are blocking transfers of licenses between accounts.

Can anyone tell me if this is the same for the standard version of ProTools?
Has anyone recently successfully transferred their ProTools license from 1 iLok
account to another? Failing that, who would be the best point of contact to ask
at Avid (as I’ve never purchased any of their support plans etc and haven’t had
any luck contacting them in the past)

Thanks for any and all input
Ashley

Re: SoundToys plug-ins

2015-12-04 Thread Slau Halatyn
True, for those parameters with a particularly wide range, a control surface
speeds things up immensely, I'm sure. I've only begun to use this bundle at the
studio yesterday so I have no presets saved out yet. Maybe Nick can post a
DropBox link to the handful that he has already.

Best,
Slau

Re: SoundToys plug-ins

2015-12-04 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Nick,
Perhaps you'd consider sharing the preset files on ProToolsWithSpeech.com.
Several people have contributed preset file folders. The more we have there,
the better for all users.

Cheers,

Slau

I think its worth noting that for any users without a control surface some
parameters will take an age to change,, the low and high cut values in certain
plugs for example. Still plenty usible though just not as friendly as the stock
aax plugs when it comes to adjusting some parameters with the keyboard.

Hth,

P.s. Nick or Slau, I'd love any presets you may have saved out...particularly

Re: SoundToys plug-ins

2015-12-04 Thread Nick Baltimora
I use two or more of these Sound Toys plug ins in almost all my mix and/or
mastering, Decapitator and Echo Boy first of all. I confirm: zero
accessibility problems for the parameters both via control surface and VO.
Only the presets folder is not accessible and this is a pity because they
are actually very useful, the the presets are in .toy and it's not possible
to rename them. Anyway i got both Decapitator and Echo Boy presets library
in .tfx in case anyone need them i will be glad to send them or trade them
with i.e. Phase Mistress, Crystalizer etc. presets.
  my

I'm sure a couple of people downloaded the free SoundToys H3000 plug-in
when it was available a while ago but I'm not sure how many users here have
used the rest of their plug-ins. Aside from the H3000, I don't recall any
mention of SoundToys among users on the list. I've liked the SoundToys
stuff when working at other studios but it was always in a situation where
I was working with an assistant so I never had a chance to truly examine
the accessibility. Well, I finally had a chance to sit down with the
SoundToys 5 bundle and was pleasantly surprised. Specifically, what I've
found is that the plug-in parameter layout in the plug-in view follows the
layout on the control surface without exception, as far as I can tell. In
addition, there's no extra "zero parameter" as we see in so many other
plug-in views. That's a mystery to me but, hey, they seem to be doing
something right.
