Re: Audio interface problem

2017-01-08 Thread Slau Halatyn
I posted this a while ago but it's good to revisit. It's an Avid blog post
about the I/O Setup and it's worth reading and rereading:
http://www.avidblogs.com/how-to-use-io-setup-in-pro-tools-12/

Cheers,

Re: Audio interface problem

2017-01-08 Thread Brian@Wavefield Recordings
I'll add to this as it might be some bit useful.

I've been bugged by the IO setup a bit in the last few days moving
between different machines, sessions and interfaces, and like Slau
said, deleting the i/o setup and hitting the default button is a good
way to go. Just hit command+A in the i/o setup dialog and then arrow
over to delete and hit that followed by moving to a button that says
default and hit ok.

This didn't work for me yesterday however when I opened a session on
my macbook with only the built in sound on the macbook as my audio
device. The session had been recorded in my studio with my consoles
interface, but I was running into some issues.

I think part of the problem was that when Reopening protools with no
interface connected it had the protools aggregate IO set as the
playback engine rather than the macs built in sound, not sure though.

I haven't exactly been having consistent behaviour from the IO setup
templates etc in the recent days.

The other day while in the studio and opening a session created with
another small interface I travel with sometimes I had no luck with
deleting the IO path and restoring the default, so I just deleted the
outputs and then created 16 new stereo outputs (as my studio interface
is 32 channels), and when I hit ok and routed my tracks to the
appropriate output it worked just fine.

The strange thing is I had no such issues until last week switching
between various interfaces, hard drives, sessions and computers.

HTH and sorry for being long winded,
Brian.

Re: Audio interface problem

Hi Niklas,
If you saved an I/O Setup to use with your particular interface (and if you
haven't, you should), You can delete your input and paths and import your
setup. Otherwise, delete all paths and press the "Default" button in the I/O
Setup dialog and the tables will populate with all available paths for your
connected interface.
HTH,
Slau

Audio interface problem

2017-01-08 Thread Niklas Karlsson
Hello all,
Hope all is great!

I'm sorry that this may be a little off-topic, but I thought i'll ask it here
anyway.

I'm having a problem with my audio interface and would really appreciate your
help:
When I open a session, wether it is an existing one or a new one, and try to
record-enable a track, the system says "The track could not be record enabled
because it doesn't have both an active input and output assigned".
When I check my in- and outputs on an earlier created track it looks fine, but
it still doesn't work.
If I create a new track, it's showing "No input" and I can't choose any of my
usual inputs.

Hope I explained it clear enough! :)

Thanks very much in advance!

All the best,
Niklas
