Re: Pro tools first, is it accessible?

2017-09-06 Thread TheOreoMonster
I seem to remember reading that avid added a track list table and some other
stuff to Pro Tools First in the latest update so may be worth another look from
an accessibility stand point. Also some of the cloud only limitations have been
lifted.

Re: unable to drag tracks

2017-09-06 Thread Slau Halatyn
Ah, sorry, I misread the message. I thought you were having trouble dragging
clips to the track. OK, understood.
The problem you're facing might be related to the number of tracks rather than
the track width. Even the narrowest setting of 80 points isn't a problem when
dragging tracks. However, if you have more tracks than will actually display
within the track list table visually, you might be clicking on a track that is
technically outside the boundary of the visible list. This can also be a
problem if you happened to have dragged a track down to the bottom of the list.
In a case like that, the table automatically scrolls. The result is that,
although VoiceOver sees the top track in the list, in reality, the first
visible track might be the third or fifth or twentieth track, depending on the
number of tracks, your screen size, etc.
One thing you can do to make sure the track list table is scrolled to the top
is to navigate to the Track List pop-up button, move 20 points straight down
and click the mouse once or twice. This will have the effect of clicking at the
top of the scroll bar. Technically, you can also click the down and up scroll
arrows by navigating to the Group List pop-up and moving 20 points up for the
down arrow and 20 more points up for the up arrow. I've put in for a feature
request that would use the Page Up and Down keys along with modifiers to
function for the Track List, Group List and Clips List. We'll see if those get
included in the near future.
Hope that helps,
Slau

Hi Brian,
That's not a Flo Tools issue but a VoiceOver focus issue in Sierra. We've
talked about that here a few times but you probably missed the discussion.
Apple is aware of the problem and we're still waiting for them to fix it. Yep,
it's a hassle to be thrown back to the top of the window each time. Thanks

FloTools issues on sierra 10.12.3 with PT 12.8

2017-09-06 Thread Brian@Wavefield Recordings
Hi all,

I had FloTools working fairly well before upgrading to sierra and had
to upgrade for software for my partner to use, anyway I am only using
FloTools on this secondary machine fr the moment for various reasons,
so I didn't make a backup of my system pre upgrade.

So the main issue I'm having is that voice over jumps to the top of
the mix window after I close menus or plug-in windows I had accessed
with FloTools commands i.e. I open the track output menu on track 16
of a sessions for example, and after I select a n output VO jumps back
to the top of them window, instead of hanging around track 16. This
didn't happen before I upgraded to Sierra.

I also seem to be having some other issues with mouse clicks etc, but
haven't really had time to explore those things fully.

Is there anything I may be missing.

I have tried reinstalling FLoTools, I am on the latest PT etc.

All suggestions are welcome,

Brian.

Hi Stefan,
Flo Tools compensates for any width so it doesn't matter how wide the Clips
list is. Of course, you realize that it can sometimes take several attempts but
it does work. What results are you getting? Is Flo Toos reporting that the drag
failed? Are you sure that the track to which you are dragging is truly visible
in the timeline? Try hiding the other tracks and see if that helps.
