Setting up a sidechain workflow

2018-09-17 Thread Christopher Gilland

Guys,

Over the next week or two, I will be recording in the studio, and mixing
my debut show for an upcoming podcast I will be starting.

One thing which I plan to do is record some bumper music which will go
behind my voice as the podcast both starts, as well as ends.

The thing is, I don't want my voice getting drowned out by the music
bed. Now yes, I could obviously use automation to bring the music track
down, which probably to make it easier, if I did it that way, which I
won't, but if I did, I'd probably route them all to an AUX input so I
could just turn all up or down in one go, but anyways, that's neither
here nor there.

My question is, if I use something like the Gray compressor that comes
with ProTools, well, at least, in my Avid account it did, point is, if I
use a compressor, how would I then set up a sidechain so that the music
track would be effected, thereby ducking based on the volume of my voice
track?

Chris.

Re: Vocalign project, how to use?

2018-09-17 Thread Slau Halatyn
No, as I stated before, you keep the Audio Suite window open the entire time.
Use your keyboard shortcuts to select audio. When you're done processing your
clips, you can close the Audio Suite window. It's a file based process and not
a real time effect.

Re: Using X form

2018-09-17 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Ramy,

Audio Suite plug-ins are not real time effects. They are file based processes.
You can preview the effect by pressing the Preview button but you won't apply
the processing until you press the Render button.
