Hi Sean,
I couldn’t attend this year’s AES so all I know of the new interface is what
the media has reported. I have no idea whether the software is accessible. My
only thought is that, in a similar situation when Avid branded an Apogee
interface in this manner, the software was not accessible and yet the unbranded
version of the software was accessible. Further, the guys at Avid on the Pro
Tools side of things had no idea that this branding thing with Apogee was
happening. So, I don’t have much confidence in this news but that’s only based
on the previous situation and this is, of course, a different situation. The
good thing, of course, is that interfaces are returnable so I’d suggest trying
one when it’s available. Hey, you blazed the trail with the S3 and you might
end up blazing this trail as well ;)
