Hi Peter,
The first thing I'd look at is whether the clip you're selecting isn't beyond
the bottom of the visible scroll area of the Clips List. The list will display
roughly 80 items before you need to scroll down and, as we all know, VoiceOver
is capable of reading things beyond the visible boundary. That's the first
thing. Second, what's most likely happening if the prior scenario isn't the
case, is that the Clips List is too narrow. Its default width is 86 points.
when the mouse pointer follows the VoiceOver cursor, it becomes centered within
the VoiceOver cursor and, when the table is too narrow, the mouse pointer
actually ends up being outside the table, just to the right. Sometimes you'll
hear VoiceOver say it's clicking on the desktop or Dock upon issuing a click.
Now, let me say that the upcoming release of Flo Tools does address this issue
and makes it very easy to drag clips from the Clips List to a track. We're just
dotting the Ies and crossing the tees and it should be up any day. In the mean
time, you can read through the text file in the PT Access Drop Box about how to
resize the Track List and Clips List. You'll need Flo Tools to do things like
move the mouse pointer to a specific coordinate and move the pointer while
dragging. You'll have to follow the steps precisely but you'll be able to
resize the Clips List within a session and that should help you drag clips the
old-fashioned way according to that demo I did a while ago. This whole process
of resizing the Track List and Clips List is simplified in the upcoming Flo
Tools release as well.
Finally, I have to say, when you import a file into a new track, the clip does,
in fact, end up in your Clips List and there should be no issues editing it. As
long as your track view is set to Waveform, you should be able to edit the
clip, providing things like Link Edit and timeline and Edit Selection Follows
Track selection are checked, etc.
Hopefully this will help until Flo Tools 2.2 is out.
Cheers,
Slau
