Loops?
Guys, I doubt very seriously there is anything stock with ProTools, but figured I'd ask on list about this, just out of the purely rare chance that I'm missing something. So, in Logic, they have a loop browser. Normally you turn it on and off with the letter o. I know this list isn't Logic, but just hear me out, and humor me. In here, you could do things like selecting the tempo or if you want the loop to be tempo synced, you could choose the instrument or a full combo, the key signature, time signature, and even the genre of music for the loop.. So, do we have something similar to this, Kommplete Kontrol stuff not withstanding, just stock out of the box that is kind of equivalent? My goal would be to be able to trigger the loop via a midi controller, so I could play a note, say, middle C, and cause the loop to follow playing it's pattern with a C chord, or something based around the C mager chord, at the very least as long as I'm holding down that note/chord. Hopefully, what I'm asking makes sense. Chris. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Pro Tools Accessibility" group. How can I use sample loops in ProTools?
Sent from my iPhone hello, I’m trying to learn how to use sample loops in ProTools. I just got a whole bunch of wave files. What I tried is to import them into an audio track in a ProTools session. However, I don’t know how to make them conform to the temple of my project. Can somebody give me some tips on how I should do this? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Pro Tools Accessibility" group. Re: Q: sample (loops) based produktions in pt possible?
Hello to all of you again, Thanks for your answers Joy and Martin. Yes I want to work with loops. Producing music by playing it all myself is not so easy for me. I am coming from the DJ world. So if in any way possible I would like to go the sample based (loops) rute. Martin, the loop browser remains a mystery to me. When i wrote "this is possible", it was in regards to producing electronic music in PT, with Synths or sample libraries, and with a loop-based approach, meaning loops or patterns you create yourself and then process, slice and so on. Hi Joy and list! Please let us all know, how you get around with the loop explorer etc. In my opinion this stuff is not that accessible and with quick reactions. Q: sample (loops) based produktions in pt possible?
Hello all PT experts, I wonder if pt can be used to produce music sample based? I am asking because I am a DJ for years now. I tried and tried again and again to produce my own music but never went any where with it because of complexity and stuff not beeing easy and accessible. I am about to take a curse that is produced for DJs that teaches how to produce tracks based on samples and not on playing instruments. So basicly you stack loops on each other and turn them on or off plus have a melody played. So very simple stuff in teory. In this curse they use Ableton Live. But I wonder if that is possible for us blind people in pt, too And if yes how such a projekt could work. I would love to give this a fair try and create a projekt around it that teaches people how to produce your very own first track even if you are not great at playing midi instruments. I have complete 10 and the Komplete Kontrol kayboard here even if I use it not so often. I also fund it difficold to set everything up so I set it aside for a while. Now I want to try again with just the fokus on samples and may be having someone play a melody for me. The ultimate goal is to produce my very own dance track a dream I have for 15 years now. I am onest! I know for sure I will need a coach for this and am willing to pay monthly what I can to get the result I am after. But first things first:-) Is it even possible? If it is I will get the curse; let you know how they do it and then we see together how we may reproduce the same in pt. I know for sure that this will be a great projekt! Re: Working with loops in PT
I’ve just taken another look at the Workspace window and the auditioning process and it seems to have improved quite a bit. I was able to audition a few files at the session tempo in real time. True workflow is another matter altogether and, since I don’t typically work by browsing loops within a session, I can’t comment at all on how it compares with Logic or any other DAW for that matter. I’ll probably delve into it a bit more as it might come in handy anyway. At some point, perhaps I’ll do another audio demo of my take on it. slau > On Jul 27, 2016, at 5:18 PM, TheOreoMonster wrote: > > Nope, not your ignorance, As someone who works with loops alot its one > of the main reasons i stopped using pro Tools as my main DAW. Re: Working with loops in PT
Nope, not your ignorance, As someone who works with loops alot its one of the main reasons i stopped using pro Tools as my main DAW. I personally hacked together a solution to make reaper work for me on OSX, a few years ago (though now Osara is finally starting to see some life on the mac as well) but GarageBand (and its big brother logic) handles loops well enough that you shouldn't "have to go back to the pc" just for this task. However fimilarity saves time and all three of the aforementioned DAW's have their respective learning curves as well. I haven't used the latest version of PT 12 extensively but a cursory look at it seemed that working with loops in the workspace and VO was still more hassle than its worth when compared to the other apps and their respective loop browsers and or the ability to copy from finder right into the time line. This could be made accessible easily if the regular pro tools import audio dialogue box recognized supported loop formats and allowed for all the same options that importing loops from the clip list, or clicking and dragging from finder does in addition to the workspace area. But as Slau pointed out in another post the other day this is probably easier said than done for various developmental reasons. Working with loops in PT
Anyone have any tips, tricks or tutorials on using loops and ProTools? Maybe I'm an idiot, or maybe it is because I am lazy and have not upgraded lately, but I have had no luck using the workspace window. It seems like importing loops and then copying and pasting to a single track is a lot more work than it should be. However, that is the alternative I most recently used. I guess I have been fortunate in my one year journey in ProTools to only be working with audio wich I or someone has recorded, but I am now finding myself in need of further wisdom on handling loops. Seems this is the one area where sonar kind of still shines. I would just hate to go over to the PC to do this... I'm sure it is my ignorance and someone will have something to offer. loops
Hi listers, Sorry for the stupid quetion. If I understand it ell, Pro Tools comes with a bunch of loops in different gengres. But where are they stored in a default fresh installation? Or do I need to download those goodies from the avid site. I know, a stupid question, but I think I'm missing something ;) tia Peter -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Pro Tools Accessibility" group. Re: Using Pro Tools to make click and rhythm tracks/loops for worship
Brian just hardpan your voice Q and your click track two left. And do all of your other tracks that the house needs out front here and hardpan them to the right. You could do things in GarageBand import them in your ProTools project and just hardpan them over to the right to come out front. They have players set up on the mixing console to accommodate that you just have one channel do the left and one channel do the right they call that split track. that will have the music and the choir to be faded in as needed. This will most definitely work for you just give it a try. I will confirm as I said with my worship leader that that is how it's done but I believe that would work. Re: Using Pro Tools to make click and rhythm tracks/loops for worship
Hi Brian, I've done this on several occasions but the difference here is that it was only for performances where I was the only one performing to the accompaniment tracks I had previously recorded. The issue here will be slightly complicated by the fact that you'll want others to hear the click and cues. From the Pro Tools point of view, it's simple as long as you have an interface with multiple outputs. I'd imagine that you'll have some type of in-ear monitoring? If you create a click track, route the output to a physical output other than 1-2. Create the instrument/audio tracks that you require for accompaniment and record them while referenced to the click track. When you're done with the recording of the accompaniment, record a cue track and route it to a different output from the click track. Your instrument/audio tracks can be routed to your main 1-2 outputs. Let's say you route the click and cue tracks to outputs 7 and 8 respectively. Your main 1-2 output would go to your front of house while channels 7-8 would go to your monitors, again, assuming you have in-ear systems. Set up Memory Locations for each song. It's a good idea to announce the song on the cue track so you can ensure you're on the right song and count in the song along with the click track. When you're ready to create the final session file for use at a gig, make sure you commit your tracks to audio. The last thing you want is to run the risk of a CPU overload. Having all of your tracks as pure audio will ensure the smoothest performance. Using Pro Tools to make click and rhythm tracks/loops for worship
Hello all, I am a worship leader at a large church in our area, and I am looking to be able to set up click for our band to use for our worship sets on Sunday morning. I would also like to be able to record rhythm tracks such as loops and other filler instruments to help fill the song up as well such as strings, organs, pads, etc. I know that they have run click here, and I believe the click has normally been panned to the left, and the rhythm track/loops to the right. They run the click track to the band’s ears, and the rhythm track out in the house, so I know that can be done. My question is, technically, how would be the best way to create and set up all of this in pro tools? I know it can be done, but would it be better to use garage band for the sounds to create the rhythm tracks, and do everything else in pro tools? Also, I would like to be able to create a q track to go along with the click track that guides the band through the song, for example, when the chorus is coming up, I would say chorus, etc. I guess technically, how would I set all of this up in pro tools? I understand how all of this works because I have played and performed with click many times, but have never manually created click and rhythm tracks to use in live performance myself, but I feel it would really help take our band to the next level, and if I could learn how to create the click and rhythm tracks in-house rather than buying them elsewhere, it would help. Any one with experience with this, please help. I’m open to how others have done this, or how it can be done. I know like I said that I can do this in pro tools, but just don’t know where to start. Is there a tutorial on how to work with loops in Pro tools for the blind?
Hi, I’m just wondering if there may be a tutorial for working with loops in Protools from a blindness perspective? I feel there’s so much i don’t understand when it comes to building especially drum tracks, and rather than pestering this list with my stupid questions i’d like to know if there’s some place i could read up on this. /Krister -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Pro Tools Accessibility" group. Re: Loops accessibility in PT 11
I sincerely hope you get a reply to this... I just spent the last two hours tinkering with Pro Tools, to see if I could figure it out for you, but I can't find the elastic button that seems (according to google), to apply elastic audio to the track... Anyone found this? I'm sure Chuck or someone said something about it working fine a while back, but I couldn't dig anything up on this list either. Sorry I can't help any more. Good luck! Keep us posted if you find anything. On 18 May 2014, at 11:48, Cliff Isaksen wrote: > Hi! Re: Loops accessibility in PT 11
Hello, I too use loops in a similar manner to you. in version 8, 9 and 10 of Pro Tools the workspace windows isn't accessible at all. There for it wasn't easy to work with loops and i switched to using reaper on the mac instead. As such i haven't spent the money for Pro Tools 11 yet, partly because reaper does everything I need it to, and partly cuz I don't have anyone around to assist with the iLok situation. There are a few ways you can still work with loops, but i found them to be tedious when building an entire drum track for a project though. If you can actually navigate around the workspace window in version 11, its probably just a matter of figuring out how to use it. 1) Import the loop the same way you would any other audio file, once its on the track in pro tools, select the loop and turn on elastic audio for that track and set it to rhythmic since its a drum loop. This will allow it to play back and snap to tempo of the project. 2 use the normal import dialog but instead of import ing to a project import to the regions list, once in the regions list you can use VO's click and drag to move it onto the track you want. Putting it on the track this way should allow it to automatically snap to project tempo. 3 use VO's click and drag to drag it from finder into the project. probably the hardest of the 3 and the one i never really fully tried myself. Loops accessibility in PT 11
Hi! I'm sorry if this has been discussed before and if I'm therefore double-posting but I couldn't find something specific on this topic in this group. Thing is, I'm trying to learn pro tools, and therefor I also need to know what can be done and what can't, so I know if it's me who's messing things up or if it simply can't be done with VoiceOver. So to the questions: I'm trying to use loops in PT. I've understood that it's done via the Workspace that is opened with Option+I. But once it's open, I can't figure out how the browser is organized, and I can't figure out how and if I can navigate to the location where my loop files are located. Then, if I at some point will figure that out and it can be done, will I be able to drag the loop from the browser window to a track? If yes, will I then have a chance of choosing where on the track to put this loop timewize? I'm probably wanna use loops most for percussion stuff, like for making an already existing drumtrack more massive or sound fatter in choruses etc. So it's important that I will be able to adjust the tempo of the loop too so that it will match my sessions tempo... Is there any other way of doing it than through the workspace, that didn't seem to be accessible with VO, or is there something I've missed about navigating the workspace? Is there a standard recepee for getting a loop into a session with VO that works best? I would be so happy if some of you had any help to offer, that you wouldn't believe it! :) I've struggled with this now for several days, and i'm almost out of bad language now... Lol! Hi, When i got the Pro tools and virtual instruments installers i also got a bunch of Bigfish loops in different folders according to jenres such as Dance, Hip hop, rock and so on. Does it matter where i place these folders? I guess that a soft synth or more is going to be able to see those loops so it's because of that i wonder if they should be placed in a folder somewhere or if it doesn't matter where i place them? Thanks in advance for this, i think i might soon be off the ground with Pro tools. /Krister -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Pro Tools Accessibility" group. Loops for meditation music
Hi, do you know good dealers of real instrument loops? I'd like to create music for meditation and therefor I need very slo ethnic instrument loops such as himalayan sound boles and things like that. I don't like loops created by synthesizers and so I prefere real instruments only. Thanks and all the best Jürgen -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Pro Tools Accessibility" group. Hey guys. My friend Ian Baird has just released a bunch of drum loops for free. It's about 300 megs worth of loops, fills, and 1 shots. He nailed the main 3 bpm's, 100, 120, and 160, which in some cases is actually 80. The drums are pristinely recorded and sound great. This is the drummer who played on my first record, as well as my upcoming release. The file is called October Steve Drums. He recorded them in October, and it's just a nod to Steve Jobs, who provided the platform for him to make his art possible. I hope this brings some inspiration for you to use in your tunes. Enjoy. http://bit.ly/oU6iun=

importing rex/acid loops
Hello ALL, Any one has any experience importing rex or acid loop files and having them conform to the sessions tempo from the import audio dialogue. Under the processing preferences i only see option for that when its dragged into a session from the desktop but not if brought in from the import audio dialog box. Also while in th import audio dialog box i didn't see an option i could check for this behaviour. Is there something i am missing?
Recording Xpand loops
Hi all, I just cannot figure out how to record a loop from the Xpand 2 plug-in. Have been searching the manuals and the internet but only found it perhaps has to do with adding an audio track and routing the instrument track to it. Have tried almost everything but can't get it to work. Can someone shed a little light on it? many thanks, Ronald
