Re: Accessible Peak Meter AAX plugin released

2015-12-10 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Fiore,

I've had a chance to take a look at the plug-in and I think it's a useful tool,
to be sure. I personally don't find the continuous "sonification" (as you put
it) mode to be particularly handy but it's nice to have an option. Speaking of
the mode, I found a peculiar aspect to the switching between Continuous and
clip mode. It appears that, as the default setting is continuous, one can
simply click on the mode setting to switch it to peak but, once that's done,
the only way to switch it back is by interacting with the parameter and using
Control-Option-down arrow to change it. One would expect that using
Control-Option-up arrow would change it back to clipping mode but it doesn't.
This is not a big problem, per se, but it's inconsistent with the way other AAX
plug-ins work. Clicking on a parameter almost always does set a parameter to
its default but, equally as often, interacting with the parameter allows one to
change the value from on to off or to various continuous values that are
included within its range.

Anyway, nice job. If there's anything we can do to help, just let us know.
cheers!

Slau

Dear Pro Tools Accessibility group,

I am a member of a research group called Design Patterns for Inclusive
Collaboration at Queen Mary University of London

Part of our research has involved accessibility of Digital Audio Workstations.

More on our research can be found here: http://depic.eecs.qmul.ac.uk

Earlier this year we have released AccessiblePeakMeter: a VST/AU plug-in that
sonifies peak levels and makes them accessible to visually impaired musicians
and audio producers

I'd like to let you know that I have just published the plug-in in AAX format
for Pro Tools on Mac OS.

Please feel free to download it from
http://depic.eecs.qmul.ac.uk/apm/downloads.html

More info on our plug-in and usage instruction are also available on the
AccessiblePeakMeter website

Hope you'll find this helpful

any feedback is welcome

best

Fiore Martin

No problem. Slap, if you don’t mind and have some time, could you do a demo of
how this thing works? I don’t even know if I am putting the plugin in the
right place LOL. Obviously not because it’s not showing up in my plugins.
