I’d recommend fission for this on the Mac, since it does lossless editing.

Hey chris. do you have to do this in protools. It’s doable with markers. But
i’ve found it easier doing this with programs like Sound forge. mac or PC it
doesn’t really matter. I usually mark out what I want, open a new document and
paint the selection in to the document, then name the file what you want. Then
go back to the original file and do the same till you have all tracks as
separate files.seems like less mucking around for me.
Just a thought.

Re: Splitting an MP3

2018-10-21 Thread Niklas Karlsson
Hi there,

Don’t know if this is the best way to do it, but I use markers (Memory
locations) to mark the beginning of each song.
Then I select a song by making a selection between two markers and then I use
”Bounce to disk” to export that specific selection to an WAB or MP3.

Don’t know if you have worked with memory locations before, but just tell me if
you need help with keyboard shortcuts or something else.

All the best,
Kind regards,
Niklas

Splitting an MP3

2018-10-20 Thread Christopher Gilland

Guys,

I have an mp3 which I recorded with my digital voice recorder of a band
playing. Yes, I did have permission to do so. I'm not that far gone. LOL!

The whole mp3 is about an hour long, and is all one file with multiple
songs within it.

What I'd like to do is to use ProTools to manually mark the beginning of
each song, then somehow bounce each region, or however I'd have to do
it, out as a separate mp3.

This way, I could burn it on a CD, but have track marks separating each
song on to its own track number on the disc as aposed to just one big
long recording.

What's the best method to tackle this, along with the steps/keystrokes
to make it happen? I'm very very good at selecting audio in PT, in
general. I've not done much though with regions or the like though, so
the more detail you can give me, the better. I think once I do it, it'll
become very easy, as I do tend to learn pretty quickly.

Thanks.

Chris.
