New Computer

2020-09-24 Thread Vaughn Brown
Hello listers,

Hope all is well! I am seeking advice on a desktop Mac. My 9-year-old
Win. 7 Dell finally said goodbye. I'm planning on bootcamping the Mac
to Win. 10. Here are my questions as it relates to Protools and
Sibelius.

1. What operating system is best for an accessible experience with PT and Sib.
2. How much memory do you recommend for a basic storage; I don't
record bands but do work on personal and professional projects as a
percussionist.
3. Should I buy the Mac from Sweetwater with PT and Sib preloaded?

Thank you. I am looking forward to the new computer with a full
keyboard as I struggled with the laptop as a recording studio.

Kindly,

Vaughn

Leave the internal drive at 512 or even 256GB if its offered. Then spend the
money you save on some decent external drives . You will need one for your
Audio drive atlas, another for back ups, and maybe another for samples if you
use a lot of SoftSynths.

well i’m thinking about biting the bullet and buying a good mac pro for the
studio here.
I’m thinking of getting a quad core 3.7 gig processor with a 512 or maybe
terabyte flash drive. I thought about upping the ram to 32 gig. would this be
overkill. i figured that if i did this, it should more than likely last me
quite a long time. What are your thoughts. are there any other specs i should
be looking at.
