Queries Log Required
Dear all, We want to extend *LSQ: The Linked SPARQL Queries Dataset [1,2] *presented at ISWC 2015 by adding more queries. To this end, we are currently collecting query logs from different domains and endpoints. Your help in this endeavour would be highly appreciated. We'll be more than happy to provide you with the detailed results of the study if you contribute. We are searching for an outstanding web/mobile developer with some experience with web backends. You will be working on the Crosscloud project, which is a joint project with Tim Berners lee and his Decentralized Information Group at MIT CSAIL. Crosscloud is an architecture for social Web applications that is decentralized, and in which user's data is managed independently of the applications that create and consume it. You will be responsible for developing innovative and reusable web and mobile applications using the Crosscloud architecture, and working on improving the backends that support Crosscloud. One research assistant/associate position (up to 1 year appointment, renewable to 2 years) is available with Dr. Essam Mansour. The ideal candidate should have: - A BS or MSc in computer science or a related field. - Frontend development experience with HTML/XHTML, Javascript (pref. Angular), and CSS. - Backend development experience with Java or Node.js. - Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON. - Semantic Web experience (RDF, SPARQL, OWL, XML). - Experience with Android SDK. - Experience in Linux and scripting. QCRI is a national research institute conducting world-class applied computing research in several areas of computer science. QCRI offers a unique opportunity for starting a strong career, an attractive tax-free salary and benefits package. Re: Updated LOD Cloud Diagram - Please enter your linked datasets into the datahub.io catalog for inclusion.
Hi Chris, Just wondering our 20.4 billion triples Linked TCGA dataset ( http://datahub.io/dataset/linked-tcga, http://tcga.deri.ie/) is yet not part of the updated LOD cloud diagram. Yesterday I got a HTTP error and today I am redirected to a blog about RDF. What has happened to the validator? Will it be back? Is there an alternative somewhere? Re: Linked Data Fragments: Web-scale querying
Hi all, An interesting discussion!!!. A good overview and a fine-grained experimental evaluation of SPARQL query federation approaches presented in [1] might be of interest. I remember another project that does something like that: SQUIN http://squin.sourceforge.net/index.shtml SQUIN implements a traversal-based query execution strategy that relies only on the Linked Data publishing principles (i.e., the possibility to look up HTTP URIs). Query processing approaches that have this property are typically referred to as Linked Data query processing. If you want to get an overview on these approaches, you may want to check out my recent survey [1]. How does LDF compare to to it? I understand LDF more as an alternative practice for publishing (Linked) data on the Web. However, the primary purpose for proposing this practice (as Ruben and his colleagues emphasize in their LDOW paper) his to facilitate distributed querying without putting most of the burden on the servers. So, the primary difference between querying LDFs and the aforementioned Linked Data query processing is that querying LDFs is a form of distributed query processing, that is, some part of the execution of a given user query is distributed to LDF servers (which provide a limited form of query processing functionality). In contrast, Linked Data query processing is _not_ a form of distributed query processing. Instead, for Linked Data query processing approaches, the whole execution of a query happens within the Linked Data query processing system (e.g., SQUIN), simply because these approaches do not assume / rely on server-side query processing functionality (servers in this setting are only required to answer URI lookup requests). Linked TCGA Dataset is now Publicly Available
A good news for health care and life sciences domain. Linked Cancer Genome Atlas (Semantic Web Challenge-Big Data Track ISWC2013, Linked Data Cup I-Semantics2013 Winner) is now available at https://code.google.com/p/topfed/http://www.linkedin.com/redirect?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcode%2Egoogle%2Ecom%2Fp%2Ftopfed%2Furlhash=zFUx_t=tracking_anet. It is the largest (to the best of our knowledge) LOD data dump containing over 20 Billions triples for 26 cancer tumors with some other tumors data has to come.
